  • the upsides outweigh the historical data IMO.

Err... may I ask, based on what?

Personally, I put in hundreds of hours in to hundreds of mini-articles in the body of those ~400 posts I created across ~two years. For me, it would have to be an absolutely stellar set of features and security for me to go to some other instance which didn't have the means to migrate anything over. Like, what would be the point, mate..?

  • Oh, right... instead of an absolute URL-style link.Good point, thank you!

  • Thanks, Abby Normal!Btw, if you happen to know of any communities which might be interested in us, please give a holler...

  • Oh! Shit no, sorry, I've never met anyone here who even knows what basic CFS/ME actually is. That said, and far as I know, 'severe' is the worst grade of all upon (ME) Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. And then of course, there are multiple grades of such...

Anyway, no... my 'recent struggles' was simply about going increasingly blind in both eyes. Wow... aren't we a funny pair...

  • I just got tested for glaucoma, and it's not that, if that makes sense..?

  • ME/CFS

You actually know what that disease is, and so forth..? Sorry, not trying to be an arse, but... wow. Really, now?

  • Yeah, it's been.... pretty terrifying, frankly. I WOULD be curious to hear about how things worked for you..?

  • Yaar, ye olde Skalywag, ye!Haha, I really appreciated that.

Seriously, there is nothing worse than putting a tonne of effort in to trying to make a good-natured, cool, funny, educational post, and then it getting the 'yadda-yadda' treatment, I guess one might say. Lol.

Thank you matey for your appreciative words. <3

  • Ah Blaze,I'm such a complete doofus for not deciding on this stuff earlier, nor taking advantage of the opportunity to dang-d'ol-diddley-ol'-dangisuch* getting it done earlier, but, well... life, you know?

    * ruh-roh, Flanders alert

Ah, so... thanks again, you beautiful ol' Blazer, you.

Ahoy, maties! We're setting sail for a new instance, i.e. PieFed.Social. Come follow the adventure, if'n ye darest! (more details in post)

  • Sorry for the late reply, M.E.

    Any decision on this?

TBH (hehe, how do we say "to be honest" in Dutch?) I'm still somewhat conflicted on this, but I think (and this will naturally somewhat depend on my ongoing eye health issues), I'm going to try carrying on. Which in this case involves attempting to migrate most of our content to PieFed.

I’m sure sopuli.xyz would welcome the community. It’s a small instance like .ee

Good to know! And I would not mind in the slightest joining you over there.

Eh, just as a quibble, tho-- last I checked, .ee was around the #2 - #3 instance across the Lemmysphere, with (easily) the greatest number of support servers and internal infrastructure to handle various user / data / attack loads, etc. IMO it was an absolute, shining gem of the Lemmysphere, and a terrible loss for Lemmy, on the whole.

  • Pardon the late reply, but yeah, I'm with you.

To be brutally honest, I feel like it was a mistake to continue the series much beyond Goscinny's death. As we've seen with other series (Lucky Luke, Thorgal, Largo Winch, Spirou, etc, etc), sometimes it works out perfectly fine, but at other times...?

  • Oh, noice! I love the little remnants of Celtic-era stuff when they appear, here & there! Really fascinating people IMO that we still barely understand. Not that such would curtail us from building a jolly, burning Wicker-Man!

Seriously, tho-- I'll give you one from The States. It's that we have a major (yet fairly shallow, fairly narrow) river leading right up to our capitol of govt, named "The Potomac."

One might think that signal name for a signal river was carefully chosen for its 'uniqueness and glory,' but, uh... last time I checked, the word "Potomac" is virtually just the word "river," in Greece, at some point.

(not unlike how the animal hippopotamus was named, i.e. "river-horse")

Point is? One of the most significant rivers in USA's history is named "The River River." Seriously...

  • Yeah, that's wonderful!

I'm really happy on the one hand that Tove herself did that magical watercolor book as her final Moomin piece (which I lightly reviewed and posted to your sub almost a year ago), but OTOH, one always craves more, you know..?

  • Oh, rabbits.Thank you so much for the compliments. oO

But yeah-- if I'm going to continue this sub, it's ...sssfffuuuhhh...

(but you really helped me, right there)

  • Sort of like a 'spooky castle,' yeah?

  • Oh gosh, I love you, NakedMole.

  • What I wouldn't to give a Moomin version of, but maybe that's just me. 🙂

  • Lac Léman

I feel like Capitain Haddock would know it for sure!

Lake Lemon, though... is that right?

  • Huh! I think you can do that at his site, last I checked.

  • The Merchant Marine of Switzerland is the largest merchant navy of a landlocked country.
