  • "up" and "under" have no meaning in space.

  • Here is my list why the old logo was wrong from a designer point of view in 2026. Keep in mind that this is very much depending on fashion, the logo may have been working very well during its time:

    • The angle of the italic "Formula 1" is way too steep, this font is not suitable for that. I also have doubts regarding the tracking/kerning of the bottom line (space between the letters of "Formula").
    • The bottom F is place exactly in line with the big size F above it. You can verify that with a straight edge of a piece of paper. But visually it is a bit to the left. This could have been adjusted. Same for the 1 in the bottom line alignment with the end of the top 1.
    • The logo does not work when reduced to small size, there's a blurry red mess at the right side.
    • A good logo is immediately recognizable/readable, but the old logo is an ambiguous image.
    • The logo works completely different on black background and its ambiguity makes it again less recognizable

By the way, I believe the TM trademark in this image is a later addition and was not part of the original design. And that shows.

  • I have a similar setup:

I am running a small/cheap Hetzner VPS with a few static and PHP websites, Forgejo, Vaultwarden, Mosquitto/InfluxDB/NodeRed/Grafana, KopiaUI, a gameserver in NodeJS, etc. All in containers, managed with Portainer and Nginx Proxy Manager. All is very little used, my server is falling asleep 😉. I backup the VPS and several home computers with Kopia to a 5TB StorageBox in the same datacenter via SFTP.

Currently I am looking at using the same storagebox for a large collection of Photos, but I've not determined yet what software to use. I wanted to use Vernissage but I found out too late that it strongly prefers S3ObjectStorage. So that is now on hold, considering running a NextCloud instance in Docker. I can mount the Storagebox to the VPS using SMB, but I have not tested the performance yet.

Running the first backups of the home computers with external hard disks took ages over the Internet. Kopia compressed our data to about 3TB, but it still took about 2 weeks to upload to Germany (we did pause the backups when we were using the computers). Now that it is done, a backup usually takes a few minutes to half an hour depending on the number of changes.

If you are serious about off site backup, you should also consider using a different provider for your backup. This will make sure your data is safe when your primary provider has financial problems or when your payment gets lost.

  • In the same(?) category: Portainer

  • Your Honor, I wanna present evidence in defense of OP:

Exhibit A: In Dutch language the creature is called "walvis", in which the syllable "vis" translates directly to "fish" in English.

Exhibit B: The scientist Stephen Jay Gould concluded, after a lifetime studying marine life, that "fish" do not form a single genus, nor are they all closely related to one another, and that there is no single evolutionary ancestor exclusive to all species traditionally called fish. This implies that the term "fish" is not a scientifically coherent category, and therefore any aquatic creature could, in principle, be labeled a "fish".

    I rest my case.

  • F1tv.

Last season I did not manage to renew my subscription because I moved to a different country and f1 did not accept the payment from VISA card in country A for a subscription in country B. So we watched on ☠️ channels, which was really terrible. There you have to watch it live, no replays. But this year, with new VISA card, I managed to pay and I will watch races in replay in the early morning when needed, without ads and without streaming problems.

  • Themselves descendants of immigrants, they are volunteering to leave.

  • For me, the McLaren Marlboro livery should be in the list. Probably second after Lotus - JohnPlayer livery (pictured here also).

I choose this McLaren MP4/5B. Too bad the car-designs got worse after this and tobacco brands were banned in many countries. But Marlboro was a very strong brand in F1, even continued for quite a while without showing the actual brand-name.

  • Reducing the validity timespan will not solve the problem, it only reduces the risk. And how big is that risk really? I'm an amateur and would love to see some real malicious case descriptions that would have been avoided had the certificate been revoked earlier...

    Anybody have some pointers?
