I appreciate the concern, but I think there’s a misunderstanding of what I'm doing. I've been posting historical lesbian figures from across the globe. Including someone like Colette isn't an endorsement of their choices; it’s a refusal to sanitize the history of how queer women navigated a world that often persecuted them. If we only record the 'perfect' lives, we’re not doing history—we’re doing PR. I’d hope the community can handle the complexity of our actual past.

  • @otter Possibly the opposite of a lake boat, so I'm imagining a lake in a boat.

  • @drbollocks I'm proud of you. You didn't deserve that.

Now treat yourself and remember this feeling whenever the doubts start creeping in.

  • @drbollocks Here's something that sometimes helps me: Ask yourself, if someone else was in your situation, what would you tell them.

Because honestly, from what you're writing, you don't have much of a relationship to lose, and you seem to be clinging onto something that isn't there, if it ever was.

It's okay to break up with people for any reason or no reason at all, if only for your own peace of mind. Don't stay with someone out of fear.

  • @bazzzzzzz It's an illustration of everything Christian extremists in the late 90's / early 2000's were afraid of: Tattoos, gangs in school, facial piercings, short hair on girls, short sleeves on girls, teenage sex, drugs and evolution ("my ancestor").

  • @todayilearned Relevant quote:

    > While dining out one evening at Lord Harcourt's residence at Nuneham in 1848 he was shown a silver locket containing an object resembling pumice stone. He popped the object in his mouth, perhaps to try and find out what mineral it was, and swallowed it. It was in fact part of the mummified heart of Louis XIV of France which had been taken from the royal tomb by a member of the Harcourt family.

  • @drbollocks That's just how the brain works sometimes. I get horny for an ex on occasion, and then I remember why she's an ex.

  • @writingprompts Okay, so I did a semi-deep dive into this, and it seems like this is not a Chick Tract (different art style anyway), but from something called the "Truth for Youth Bible", however not the current one (which can be found here: https://revivalfires.org/ and is - compared to this - incredibly boring) but likely the third edition with entirely different illustrations. (see: https://x.com/abtnatural/status/1222721453373755394?lang=ar )

I am still trying to find a good scan of the whole thing. So far no luck, though.

  • @BramStroker47 Took me a long time to figure all of this out as well. I'm not even sure what fucked me up, because I remember so little. Like, I know I was beat regularly, but I don't remember a single instance of it.

Breaking off contact certainly helped, but I'd be lying if I didn't have to deal with the after-effects every day still.

If your platform doesn’t show all four panels of this quite exquisite and - dare I say - groundbreaking work of art, here is a link you can click to enjoy it in its entirety: https://trouth.eu/@Kathrin/114048021455654717

If you are confused, don’t sweat it. All will be revealed in time.
