  • It's turned into a surprisingly rough day today.

I had a job interview today that... Honestly, I have no idea how it went. It was the 3rd round with this company, and the other two went very well. This one was with the head of the department, and the guy was incredibly unreadable and cold. And I have no issue with people being cold -- especially upper management -- but it's the lack of signal that's really throwing me.

At the very least, the lack of certainty about what this guy thinks makes me less certain I'd be a good fit in this place. But at the same time, he wouldn't be the person I was reporting to, anyway.

On the domestic side, my wife decided to go back to a vegetarian diet. She assured me this would be a gradual transition, and it wouldn't immediately affect any of my routines.

Anyway, she basically immediately turned around and told me she was eating vegan now, and started trying to sell me on a vegan pizzaria on the other side of town. Which... Not only did I just buy a whole bunch of chicken, but she doesn't drive, so I do all of the take-out pickups. I'm pretty overwhelmed, upset, and, I suspect, angry. And it's occurred to me that this is a recurring pattern: She decides to make a change, she tells me it won't impact me at all, and then she not only makes me hear about every little thing she's changing, but also needs me to change my shopping routines, and/or go well out of my way to facilitate her changes, and I'm getting increasingly frustrated by this pattern.

  • It's amazing how passionate bootlickers are about text prediction and the capturing of the commons.

The billionaires aren't going to love you backv bro.

  • That's a problem, but the bigger issue is how the commercial models are tuned to tell you that you are never wrong.

Or, more to the point, telling people who don't know what they're talking about that they're never wrong.

  • Yeah, Usenet is amazing right now. I just with the discussion groups were seeing the benefit of the media and binary revival.

  • There are so many options. Why is she being so insistant on having that hole?

  • Does anyone need the Beaverton to be labeled as satire on a Canadian forum?

  • It just agreed with the accusations, because these models do what they're trained to do: Agree with the prompter.

  • Nor have organized politicall movements designed to vulnerable populations.

  • Obviously not. They use real brooms. You can get them at the hardware store pretty cheap!

  • They also never knew. They went from being tech nerds dyring a timewhere tech was very expensive and limited to venture capitallists. These were never "normal" people.

  • They're not trying to be pick-me brown folks. They're just also fascists, and have been kind of blind to the fact that their ideas of fascism and class power are different from the average MAGA WASP's.

  • Thr functional monopoly does not get to occupy thr "good" column judt because gamers can't help but fall, hungerly, on billionaire Gabe Newell's crotch.

  • No, Ubi is evil. Ubisoft heads believe you have no rights to the game you bought. None whatsoever. Yves has the biggest hardon for cloud streaming you've ever seen, because it means a perpetual revenue stream for him, and zero control for you.

  • No, he thinks the capitalist hellscape we are leaving behind is socialism, apparently.

  • Governments work for whoever acts like their bosses. The people don't act that way, and oligarchs do, so here we are.

  • It's very difficult to promote fedi as a whole. You really have to promote specific sites, and there seems to be a lot of resitence to doing so. And even if there wasn't, it can be difficult to communicate the value to people in the age of the omni-website.

  • I miss when they were gooey. I got a white chocolate one from the UK this year, and it was kinda gooey. But not what it was like in the 90s.
