  • Oh yes. I don't mean to imply that society can be turned off like a switch. I just wanted to share that looking at myself through that lens has helped me, and also to start pushing a back, or at least shielding myself, against the attitudes around me -- which I believe is the first step in changing society. I fully realize many people are not in a place that will allow this right now, but I hope by sharing this experience, it can help make change. I believe in medication as a vital bridge to health and happiness but regardless of the context, is often just a bandaid solution.

I think the bigger concern here is the wife's behavior and language and it's not at all helpful. I believe it is close to abusive if one is going to threaten's another's autonomy. If she has valid complaints about his behavior or the side effects he experiences while on the meds, that's a discussion to have.

  • Two points I hope help you:

My personal belief is not the same as your wife but similar: As a long time ADHD adult, I've come to believe ADHD is a societal problem not a mental illness. It is a version of humaness. This is my experience and I don't expect others to accept it. But, there is a psychological concept that if you remove societal pressure to "be" a certain way, and you are allowed to be you and the suffering is alleviated, its not mental illness.

That being said, you are a grown adult who is allowed to decide what you need. Your wife is being borderline abusive if she is using those actual words and threatening consequences. If you believe this is your best option, put your foot down, thank her for her opinion and say you're doing what's best for you and ultimately it is your own choice. Be prepared to be met with threatened consequences if that's a thing, and try to have the courage to say something like "Threatening me is not acceptable, and I'd like you to work on that issue. If you are unwilling to try and see things differently and this is not something you can live with, let's talk in a healthy way."

Another small note: I wouldn't even bring up that you're trying to improve her life. You have the right to improve your own life and experience and that's enough. Including her in that opens the door for her to say "I don't want you to do that for me." which is not relevant in this case as long as there has been no history of side effects of the meds causing problems for those around you.

  • I'm guessing that because both ISPs are reporting it at the same time, this must be on dnsforge's end or at least some network problem between my locale and germany, yeah?

dnsforge.de frequently unreliable on my android?

  • Ahh thank you. Was a matter of bad UI. There's a tiny button in the top right corner to modify the appearance instead of loading the options on the massive blank screen. My screen is big and this was maximized so even was less noticable when I was looking before :) Anyway, thanks!

  • Besides all the obvious problems with this, the biggest one I see coming that I don't see many people talking about is how Amazon will inevitably use this to put others out of business if they don't cooperate with Amazon. They've already done this hardball game with sellers voer the last decade that if you don't sell on Amazon for an unsustainable low price + pay Amazon fees you'll find yourself losing business to Amazon's stolen copies of your products under the "Amazon Basics" brands. Well proven they do this, and I can see that if you find yourself scraped by this new AI program and you fight it, you're going to be getting a visit from the Amazon Mafia.

  • Incorrect. They have a new "ai feature" that scrapes the internet for independent stores and copies their products, pastes them on Amazon and then sells them to Amazon customers. Their AI then goes and places the order with the original store. Read the article and the news - it's widely reported in the last couple weeks. It seems like a "good thing for sellers and consumers" There are dozens of problems with this which are well covered elsewhere.

  • I have been trying to break my Amzon Addiction for years. This did it. Walmart is lesser evil now.

  • Ban it by calling it what it is: spam. We don't even need to debate whether it's "real" music or not. The bots and accounts posting it here are spamming the community for views/plays solely so they make money off their fake content. Every time I've seen it it's dozens upon dozens of posts by the same account flooding the community and contributing nothing worthwhile. Almost always they are even trying to pass it off as genuine musicians.

  • 😂

  • Wow. You went to another forum, dug up what you think is evidence to use against me, dug up other outdated posts in my history, completely out of context and that were not even related to what I'm working with at the moment, and decided to dump on me here. You have completely twisted (or misunderstood?) reality to make yourself feel superior and continue to scold n00bs on the internet, and attempted to paint me across the street here. Then you made up a bunch of things that arent happening to defend your stance:

You are trying to manage managed nextcloud like it is selfhosted nextcloud (No. I know exactly what I'm working with. I was asking if this is "normal" for this software to a community that would know, before I waste another dozen hours trying to seek a solution.) and you are getting frustrated when people tell you that you might not have the under the hood access needed to fix what you want to fix. (Wrong. I'm frustrated with the attitude like yours that assumes that every person who asks a question is a n00b idiot and has no idea what we're asking about.)

Thanks for proving my point so well.

  • Yes, NextCloud's parnters page is a mess when it comes to user experience. It's tough to find a good provider even when using the location filter. When you do get a page of results, the links are broken or you follow the link and the partner doesn't really advertise NextCloud and often use confusing billing models or "solutions" packages which are hard to decipher. It's really almost impossible to determine which providers just are a regular web hosting company that gives you a one-click install of NextCloud vs managed NextCloud implimentation.

The only partner I've found there that offers managed NextCloud from a US server location is MassiveGrid. Other providers might offer it, but it's not apparent from their websites. So far MassiveGrid is OK. A little slow on customer service but at least productive and friendly customer service. I tried Tab.digital but they are in Europe and I had issues with both server performance and customer service being willing to help. Tab.digital has more self-service options like being able to buy autosetup an add-on OnlyOffice server, and self-custom domain settings, but MassiveGrid offers more Gb space for less $. You just have to submit a ticket for things others offer automated process for. But MassiveGrid does not offer add-on OnlyOffice servers which I wish for.

  • Nextcloud @lemmy.world

Why is the official Nextcloud help community so combative?

  • I have neighbors with chickens 2 houses down. I can attest that the chicken sounds bring unexplained joy.

  • Please, no AI slop music. Bertha Mae Lightning is a fake AI slopist by Dumpster Groove. Was real disappointed this turned out to be fake.

  • "We don't have a cat."

  • I know these solutions cost more but if you're having trouble with frequent spoilage this might save you $$

    1. For cow milk, try and buy organic in a container that blocks light. I find these to have extra long expiration dates compared to plastic jug regular milk... Often 2-3 months from purchase and it is often unspoiled past that.

    2. Try unsweetened original almond milk. I find it hard to tell the difference and the almond milk I buy can last 4-5 months in my fridge if I don't use it sooner.
