  • We've sold maybe a 10th of what we sold pre-tariffs. W have probably lost closer to million in sales due to the tariffs. Customer's aren't buying parts for preventative maintenance, they only purchase when it's an emergency and they are losing tens of thousands of dollars an hour in production. US manufacturing is in trouble.

    My company lost hundreds of thousands of dollars in tarrifs. We passed those on to the customer since we couldn't take a 50% hike on costs.

    We have no way to refund money we don't have.

  • Actually hitting it. If you try to play a song like Rush's Tom Sawyer with a poor technique, you will be tired halfway through the song. If you use your fingers more, you are able to do these faster notes cleaner and for much longer.

    If you can find a local teacher or mentor, go for it. But tons of awesome online videos on these techniques.

  • Every few months I will treat myself to something I want. Then take a break and save up money.

    I love that dopamine hit from getting something new. But then again, most of the stuff I buy are tools or something that makes me do MORE work. I don't like spending $1000 on a vacation, I just don't enjoy them like other people do.

  • Right on!! I taught myself how to play a couple decades ago. I started off by playing along with my favorite songs. Get the beats down and get your technique right and it's so much fun just to Jam.

    Online you can search for "drummer-less tracks" and they are my favorite for making up beats on the spot.

    If I could go back and change one thing, it would be my grip and learning to use my fingers/wrist earlier on instead of my whole arm. Makes playing those 16th notes with one hand MUCH easier with the right technique.

  • I also leave all my systems hooked up. There is not much i can do about the 50 cables behind my tv, so i use velcro cable ties for the audio/video cords and power cords since those consoles don't move. Consoles that i need to move out to play due to short cords (N64, NES, PS2, Dreamcast), i will have an extra set of audio video cables that i can plug straight into my converter.

    For controllers, i am still battling that. I used to wrap the cords in a oval shape and them velcro strap them, now i don't do that anymore since it's not good for the copper. So i put 2 controllers in plastic gallon bag with their cords loosely wrapped in a circle. Then i put those bags in those fabric bins for my 6x6 cube storage thing.

    I think as time goes on, i may try and get more retro wireless controllers, but at the moment i don't play those consoles that much, so it's not worth it at $35-65 per controller.

  • Yeah, i got my original DMG refurbished and working and as terrible as the screen is, i don't want to change it. It's the first gameboy ever made, so there should be a bunch of original ones out there so kids can see just how terrible it was to play in the dark.

    I will buy a gameboy color to mod instead.
