  • Well he certainly wasn't majoring in wilful ignorance so that probably works in his favour.

  • True, still listed in official definition.

  • One of the dictionary definitions for "bug" is:

A small invertebrate with many legs, such as a spider or a centipede.

How could you be opposed to this little guy?

  • One of my friends did a personal study on his costs at uni and found it was more cost effective to drive his car (this was in the early 2000's) than it was to ride his bike to uni everyday than buy the food required to fuel the 50km round trip.

  • Spiders seem to have lost their invitation =(

  • Oh yeah, this guy definitely doesn't have AI Psychosis. He's is for sure a well rounded individual who regularly talks to people.

  • I feel like practically this isn't very helpful. The car (or other much larger aircraft needs to pace the drones or vice versa and be in very close proximity, surely landing and hotswapping a battery pack would be faster and more efficient. Like if landing isn't an option is driving a car over garbage terrain while maintaining proximity to a low flying aircraft going to be possible? I guess you could use a blimp or large aircraft to pace the drones, but not sure a blimp and drone could match speeds without one breaking up or the other falling out of the sky.

  • Is paywalled for me, do they explain the range and how much power they are throwing? An altitude of 15m suggests this thing needs to be pretty close ..

  • I needed a zip disk for graphic design unit I took at Uni. All I remember was it being slow and unreliable.

  • Are you sure you're not a praying mantis?

  • Maybe, it's still stupid, they haven't even officially renamed the department.

  • Yeah I'm not calling him that

  • I mean, this is horrific, I can really only identify the carrots as actual food, but what do US military personnel think their government thinks of them when they treat their veterans like they do? Their veterans get treated like scum. Their current Secretary of Defense literally ran multiple veteran support scam companies. How can active soldiers not see that thats how they will be treated when they become veterans? The fact that the military isn't marching on Washington to arrest the executive and the complicit portion of the legislative branch tells me they are not enlisting their best and brightest.

  • If Bezos wants to spend a premium screw up his production lines by somehow integrating AI into them then let him do it. He doesn't pay indentured wage slaves minimum wage on zero hour contracts because he wants them to think on their feet and adapt to problems. He wants them to do highly repetitive tasks over and over again. Thats just a normal automated production line. Adding AI to it and making each tool multi-functional and adaptable will lower the systems efficiency, not improve it. If he's going to use machine learning to optimise his plant then there's probably some benefit to gain, but that's not what "ai-powered robots" sounds like.

  • Seems like Brenda chose poorly

  • Just? That happened like a week ago ..

  • I think the bigger problem is that we are implementing a system that has been proven to be ineffective at solving the problem, yet the world is plowing ahead. All we've achieved is removing the liability for social media site operators. They can run cess pools of misinformation and child predation and wash their hands and say "whelp, the kids shouldn't be there, we have government approved age verification (also until thats proven to be zero knowledge we have even more personal data to use for marketing and sell on the data broker market)."
