The customer can choose a refund or replacement - its not up to the retailer. A refund would be of the original purchase price, so a replacement is a no brainer.
Immediately knew this was going to be Umart - they're a bunch of cunts that treat their customers like trash.
The Australian Consumer Law states that the customer may choose a refund or replacement. This guy can raise it with ACCC and they'll take then to court.
I was thinking about it - its a massive project. It does a lot of stuff that I've never touched, for me personally - all I do is use it to manage my wine prefixes. Obviously there is a lot of extra stuff that goes into it, but I could probably write my own app that does that much at least in a couple weeks.
I guess this is all to say, its a huge project and for me personally it has a lot of what you might call bloat. Maybe something that pairs all that extra stuff away into optional plugins might be a better approach for a next generation all-in-one launcher
This reminded me of The Expanse TV series, where one of the main characters from Earth, has a scene where they have someone born in space (Belter) hung up on a wall with their arms resting over metal hooks under their armpits - basically letting their lack of adjustment to the Earths atmosphere do the dirty work for them.
I'm in favour of hiring kids to figure out the solution through iteration and doing web searches etc. If they fuck up, then they learn and eventually become better at their job - maybe even becoming a Senior themselves eventually.
I get what you're saying - Seniors are more likely to use the tools more effectively, but there are many cases of the AI not doing what its told. Its not repeatably consistent like a bash script.
Its insane, and the worst part is I don't know what we can even do about it. There is no conversation, all the media basically talks about how great this is to protect kids, there doesn't seem to be any way to push back against this. Why the fuck should we be expected to provide anything to these companies - it's infuriating.
No Mans Sky. I think my biggest turn off is the interface - its so unintuitive and slow, I just can't seem deal with it. I try it once every big update but that part of it doesn't seem to improve. I haven't tried it in a while.
