  • You should probably cut your earlobes off too then, you don't really need them and it's possible they could get infected at some point in your life. And I'm sure you shave your and your children bald regularly, right? You don't need hair and it removes the possibility of lice which can carry blood-born diseases.

  • Whatever you think needs to be done; absolutely anything ranging from peaceful protest to violent uprising. What exactly are you arguing, that it's best to sit back and take it? That it's better to put you face in the mouth of the leopard eating you rather than your arm so that at least you have a chance of fighting back? Even if one is an accelerationist (a profoundly naive position in my opinion, but that's another discussion) willfully not voting is the intellectually cowardly option, justifying inaction rather than sticking to your ideals and actively voting for the option you believe will accelerate the most. The point is that voting is not a mutually exclusive action to take like so many people on Lemmy seem to act like it is.

  • That's really not what they're saying at all; I get the feeling that you may be taking this too personaly. It's a reasonable argument that engaging with the cultural phenomenon, even if not financially supporting it directly, still signals support or at least tolerance of the controversies so closely associated with it these days. You may disagree of course but I think calling it "a demonization of everyone who ever enjoyed the series as a child" is a gross misrepresentation of their position. It is, at most, a condemnation of those who would continue engaging with it since then. (And, ironically, likening them to Dolores Umbridge is engaging in the very type of cultural normalization that they were arguing against. Although if you disagree with them I don't suppose you'd feel that matters anyway.) Anyhow, that's enough arguing on someone else's behalf for me today. I just can't stand seeing arguments misrepresented like that.

  • I mean Fever Tree is obviously better but also costs three times as much.

  • So for fucks sake pick the one that's slower at it so you have more time to do something about it. It's not like voting locks you out of any other actions.

  • It's not a review though?

  • I think it's safe to assume she wrote something like [insert date here]. That seems like a pretty obvious explanation to me anyways.

  • Ya, and I can only speak for myself, but I don't have a lot to give to charity so when I do it sure as heck isn't random. There's far too many scammy charities out there for that, I don't donate anything without at least a little researching first.

  • Their point still stands

  • It's not a prerequisite, it's just that it works better.

  • Good points! I think I'm leaning slightly towards the Pixel at the moment. It's true that while I'm not interested in a custom ROM now that could change down the line.

  • Good question, I assume that both OneUI and Pixel Android support the old three button navigation as well as gestures, but I'm not certain.

edit: Upon looking into it I can confirm that android 16 (and its derivative presumably) support three button navigation.

  • One theory I heard was that it was a preemptive measure incase they're forced to sell off (or split off or whatever) chrome due to potential antitrust issues they're facing. This would then have some really fucky downstream effects regarding ChromeOS. Or maybe this is something to try to avoid the antitrust issue in the first place? I don't really know and this is all second hand speculation.

  • Maybe. The one thing I can say for sure is that far too much of eastern Europe is coloured green.

  • It's about $8 CAD / month, which is noticeably more than Air vpn's ~$5.25 CAD / month (if I signed up for two years). That being said I understand your point, assuming that they have that trust. As someone who isn't familiar with them though I need to first know why they deserve it more than others. Other people do seem to speak highly of them though and have made some points that are in their favour.

  • What is it about Mullvad that makes it superior to all other options? I'm open to it, I just need something to justify the higher price.

  • How important is port forwarding? I've never really bothered with it. I'm definitely still in the shallow end of the pool when it comes to using vpns.

  • They're not denying that happens in England, just pointing out that it functionally happens in the US too. So I'm not really sure what your point is.
