  • Washing my hair everyday. I had very thin hair for 20 years and now it's actually growing back. I have an incredibly greasy scalp and face, and it was likely sebum plugs blocking the follicles. Plus, I'm very sensitive to the feeling of product or grease on me, so it feels so much better.

  • I can! I come from that area and it's a real dish that is eaten commonly and served in pubs and restaurants. If you go to a local market, you can get then to take away with scoops of mushy peas in the container too.

    I don't eat meat, so I can't speak to the taste, but mushy peas themselves are delicious and shouldn't taste anything like garden peas. They are more like a dal.

  • UK - Only had one kid come and had lots of treats. My own kids went out and got quite a haul, but most people had left bowls out so they didn't knock on many doors (they know only to go to decorated houses).

    For the last few years, there seem to be more people decorating and putting treats out than there are kids going out. Plus our weather has been shit.

    As a person who is difficult to buy for (not because I want special things but because I don't really want anything), candles are ideal as I either like them and use them, or can say I did. Much better that something I am expected to wear or constantly display in my home.

  • I'm a woman in my 40s who is probably autistic, but back then I was the wrong demographic and "too well behaved" to even consider diagnosis. I'm a typical example people think of when thinking about under diagnosis.

    On the other hand, I work with people who have severe learning disabilities who also evaded diagnosis, or were diagnosed well into adulthood as diagnosis is difficult in someone so impaired. In another time, they would have been labelled with a grossly offensive term and just left. Better treatment of disabled people is probably another reason we see rising rates of diagnosis.

  • So I'm a 1, except for faces. Does anyone else get this?

    If its a face I know, then it's a 2. But if I'm reading or listening to fiction, faces are more like a 4. Everything else appears in vivid detail when described - clothes, surroundings, etc. - I can even conjure tastes and smells, but I really have difficulty holding onto a face in my mind. It's made me appreciate fan art.

  • I have synesthesia and I use colour and "feel" to remember things. I'm good with phone numbers and dates. I also use mapping a lot, where I see a picture in my head with things placed along in. For example, the year is on a ribbon of varying thickness and colours.

    I did think this was how everyone did it. I was 20 before I realised synesthesia was even a thing because it seems so natural to me.

  • I haven't finished this one yet, do we'll see.

    I'm guessing you mean the first trilogy (apologies if I'm mistaken), as the First Law universe continues for 6 more books after that (plus a collection of short stories). After the Last Argument of Kings, there are 3 "stand alone" novels, which are the strongest, in my opinion, and then a second trilogy, which is excellent.

    I believe there are more books planned for that universe, but The Devils is separate. The others I haven't read as they're Young Adult, so they probably have cheerier endings.

    Were you to read on, you'd probably find some joy for characters you like, but I think unhappy endings outweigh the happy ones. Of course, I could be mistaken and you've read all 9, because the ending of the last can definitely be described as devastating too!
