    software loyalists tend to be strange individuals outright. but signal users are a special flavor of smug.

  • I'm still sad they lost the original white behind the thumbsticks design from the original steam deck. it was such a cool look. the black on black looks sleek, but it lacks the character imho.

  • this isn't about that. it was the excitement of the book fair. it meant you were going to get some cool books and maybe some of those neat science rocks and minerals books that came with actual minerals and stuff.

    or bug collecting books with bug catching apparati attached. was so cool.

    it wasn't about overtaking libraries. it was to get kids excited about reading. and it worked.

    it was a nice thing to be excited for.

  • the scholastic book fair was the best. to this day my parents said it was the most they happily spent on books for us.

    because after they bought us a bunch the house would be quiet cause we'd all be in various positions reading for the next week and a half or so. 😂

  • you could absolutely buy singles of songs if you wanted (I would usually buy my singles on cassette cause they were way cheaper), however it was usually more cost effective to buy the whole album. (if you liked the artist and wanted to take the risk)

    usually listening to the entire album a few times will get you some pretty decent songs and it meant you got to take time to really appreciate what you had to listen to. also I found that my enjoyment of stuff would change every listen.

    the best case scenario is you bought an album and every single song was a banger. and you just don't get that anymore because you have access to everything all the time. so its much easier to just hit the skip button nowadays.
