  • It took me a while to get into them but I had a friend who got me to play through Dark Souls 3 and once I got good enough at it, I really started enjoying it. Something just sort of clicked and ended up playing through every FromSoft game (some multiple times over)

I realise it's not a genre for everyone but I find the game really rewarding as well as having the most gorgeous level designs of any game I've played

  • I'm the same. I loved GTA4 but I just found the characters in 5 too unlikeable. I also hate when games get you to switch between a number of characters as it just sort of ruins my immersion

Take me back to cousin Roman calling me asking if I want to go bowling

  • I've seen a bunch of mêmes about this now, did Microsoft fuck up Outlook with a new release or something?

  • I initially disagreed but after actually reading the post, I'm with you. If it was only the article's text that was generated and not the data or graphs then I don't see why the whole thing would be written off. I mean, it's really sad seeing people offload their writing to AI but I still found it interesting.

  • Mom needs to learn to start the cook (I'm hungry)

  • You'd get no complaints from me. I don't understand why you can go to the doctor which is covered by the government, but any medication for the treatment the doctor literally prescribed is something only those with insurance can have

  • I'm not a journalist nor anywhere near that field, what's I/P and R/U?

    edit: Israel/Palestine and Russia/Ukraine?

  • I can agree with the corporations ruining things part but I do like when governments force companies to respect data privacy.

I can agree with the government part too when it's forcing services to scan your ID though

  • I use it daily as that's where my friend group is but we've been looking for an alternative since it is definitely getting bad. It's at the VC funding stage where they now need to actually make money so enshittification is happening quickly.

There was also the whole Palantir-linked age verification thing they briefly announced and then partially rolled back. A TL;DR would be that it's the same old thing that happens to every closed source VC funded service

  • I just wish we had full pharmacare in Canada. I know we got a partial rollout but I got laid off and lost my insurance and the actual price of some of my medicine is way crazier than I expected.

The last time I went to pick up medication, it cost me $450 (CAD) for only for 3 prescriptions which insane. Its nearly half of my EI which already pays less than what my rent is

Luckily I actually just got hired by another place and should have insurance again but damn, our system is still terrible

  • It was about 4 months out of date at code freeze from my understanding and 6 months out of date on release which is honestly better than I'd expect normally for packages in official repos

  • +1 to Garage being great! I used it for a personal project and it worked really well. A lot of S3 data browsing clients also support it natively or just through API compatibility too

  • Software needs users to fund development and most users find the software via word of mouth and there's no way I'm telling a friend that they should try POOP for their next art project

  • I started getting scalp excema a few years ago that's primarily triggered by stress and sweating and it's the absolute worst. I have long hair that's extremely important to me but fucking excema makes me want to cut it all off sometimes

  • I'd love to hear what your solution would be? They freeze everything two months out to allow for thorough testing and unless your answer to the problem is switching to a rolling release cycle (which is exactly the opposite of what its supposed to be), then I don't think there's anything to be done

This sort of distro is and always has prioritised stability over having the latest of everything and that's a good thing. I use CachyOS on my desktop but it's the absolute last thing I'd put on a server, let alone a production one.

Just use Docker if you need something newer

  • Yeah, I've never even thought about using PW BIOS protection since someone could always just pop out the drive and do whatever with it. I guess if it's a soldered drive it makes slightly more sense but still easily overcome by anyone who's determined enough

Full disk encryption is what you want really

  • By eating it, would that mean it's just instantly paid off or do the lenders just lose any record of you taking a loan? The answer would either mean an infinite money glitch or very confused accountants and getting blacklisted by banks

  • Yeah not really sure what the OP comment is implying. Like as if doctors are taking the piss with their recommendations rather than them being the best choice based on the science available at that time
