These are just the countries self righteous enough to think torturing is a good thing and are willing to go on record to say so.

  • The San Francisco district didn't change in the redistricting, and remains one of the few coherent house districts these days. When it was clear the communists were going to win the head of the nationalist Kuomintang party Chiang Kai shek fled to Taiwan and established the modern republic of China (Taiwan) in hopes of eventually returning and retaking the mainland after communism collapsed or the US decided to get involved. After they left mao mopped up the remaining nationalist forces and established the people's republic of China, both of them claim to be the legitimate government of both Taiwan and the mainland.

    some have taken upon themselves to honor KitKat in distinctly Silicon Valley-style ways. Zeidan (part of cats family) has released a memecoin honoring KitKat’s legacy, and also said that he was disappointed to see others launch their own imitation tokens in an attempt to profit off KitKat’s death.

    He says he's going to use the money to support local vets, but why don't you just share some links to spca to donate directly, you're providing nothing but a way for you to grift by taking the money through meme coins.

  • IDK they've been pretty on top of this. I remember earlier this year there was a story about them honking all night at there depot and they released a patch to fix it in a couple days. They are trying to get approval to drive to the airport so they're very sensitive to public opinion and the politicians in charge of approving that.

  • It can work if there's a safer legal alternative. Like theres a black market for moonshine but it's miniscule compared to the whole alcohol market because most people would rather go to a normal store and buy vodka instead cause they know what they're getting. Same with tobacco, they aren't banning all nicotine products, just smoking, so if the options are to smoke this probably contaminated tobacco you get off the black market or vape / chew nicotine products that have some quality assurance most people will choose the latter.

  • On android you can hold the bottom gesture area and it brings up Google ai "what's on my screen" mode and it has a translate function that will replace all the German text on the screen with English, seems to work pretty well at least on the German memes.

  • One point I'd like to add is that trans identity can become an existential threat to a lot of people, in the philosophical sense of existentialism vs essentialism. If you base your entire life, identity and values off a single idea, then questioning that idea brings into question your entire existence. If you think your a man because you have a penis and that your hetero because your attracted to Afab women then the idea that a women can have a penis brings into question both of those identities and all the decisions in your life you made off those identities.

    If you aren't secure in your sexual and gender identity these sort of questions can be very uncomfortable as doubt would lead to you doubting and regretting every decision you've made in your life leading to an existential crisis. So instead of facing this existential dread people will run from these questions and attack anything that may raise them to preserve their identity and ego.

  • Man the ai hate is so strong on lemmy they can't even admit when it's good at something. Though I'm guessing a lot of these people's experience with getting recipes from it is memes of bad hallucinations and not actually trying it looking at all the "glue on pizza" takes.

    I'll back you up though, have gotten a lot of good recipes from chatgpt, even for baking which doesn't have a lot of room for error.

I like making fun of trump as much as the next guy but we should be making fun of him for the bad shit he does, not when he's backing out of that dumb shit. Like it or not were stuck with this guy for another 4 years and if we instill it in him that backing down is weak then he's just gonna become more entrenched in whatever dumb thing he initially commits on.
