  • Haha well, from what I've heard, you're not technically supposed to walk away from them but they don't have the same legal recourse as banks so they just sell to debt collectors as the default action when you don't pay.

  • "buy now pay later" schemes. They are basically a credit card where you pay in instalments rather than a minimum monthly repayment like a credit card. Technically not lines of credit so they skirt around lending laws and can be given out to more people, but it also means they can't do much to recover the debt if it goes bad. Which is why the financial councillor told us we could just ignore them if we can't afford it anymore.

(I was in my early 20s when I racked up those debts lol)

  • Sounds like sensory hell.

  • The debt collectors were for zip and afterpay.

My partner's credit card debt was forgiven, I think the financial councillor was able to prove that he'd paid more over the lifetime of the debt in interest and repayments than the debt was worth, then proved our inability to make more repayments. She told me mine would have a bigger impact on our credit scores because it was written off by the bank rather than forgiven, but we don't plan on taking out any more debt, that doesn't really matter.

The "happily" was a little facetious, the bank I was with was actually quite rude and difficult to work with lol. I'd had issues with them being unprofessional and straight up lying to me in the past and closed all other accounts. The credit card was still open though because it was taking time to pay off.

  • I realised it's all fake anyways when my back went out and I was unable to walk for 3 years while I was on the wait list for surgery (I'm ok now).

I went from high credit with a decent paying but physical job to unemployed and no longer able up work in my industry. My partner had a few months of unemployment at the same time and I wasn't able to pay my $11k credit card debt and he couldn't pay his $20k debt. We borrowed money from my younger brother to pay rent for a few months.

Spoke to a free financial councillor, she talked to the banks for us and they happily just waived both debts. She told us to ignore both of our zip and afterpay debts, and not to reply to their debt collectors. And just like that we were debt free after owing 40k between us.

Came out the other side better off financially even though our credit score has tanked. And even though I don't earn an income now or have any debt/credit, my credit score keeps rising?

Shits made up and the numbers don't matter.

  • Wasn't that the point? He's annoying asf and the adults are all very aware of that fact.

It's like that with most kids shows. Kids identify with the main character and adults identify with all the adult characters annoyed by the main character's antics. They're written by adults for kids so they tend to have both pov's, and you understand that as you grow up.

  • That thing looks awesome for less than $7.

My kitchen scale boasts a rechargeable battery, a timer mode, and capacitive buttons that don't work if there's any moisture on it All for the low price of $245. (technically free for me though, because I stole it from the bar I worked in when I quit lol. I would never pay that much for a scale)

  • I have a chasseur pan and it's been great for the last 6 years I've had it, and I run it through the dishwasher every time I use it. I've also bought some random $20-$40 enamel cast iron pans off supermarket shelves and they've been perfectly fine too.

KitchenAids enamelled beaters are all flaking and chipping metal into my food though so I had to buy non-enamel ones to keep using the damn thing.

  • I'm not a prepper by any means but I feel like anything that uses electricity is also beyond my ability to repair, so I feel like a solar panel isn't the worst thing to have.

  • ms13

  • Yeah unfortunately the guys he's talking about just shrug and blame the equipment in the video after they successfully prove the earth is curved lol

  • Pretty sure a lot of commercially made noodles are already just pressed through an extruder. You can get an attachment for your KitchenAid

  • You think they took the time to learn all the polys? They just want to cheat on their Christian wives I bet

  • I worked at a pizza shop in my early teens. My favourite was cheese all the way to the edge. With enough pepperoni the pizza would deep fry itself and the cheese on the edge would go extra crispy. And I wondered why I had issues with acne.

  • I was on dialup until I was 18, those games didn't exist to me. I guess I lied a little, I played league of legends shortly before I was 20.

  • World of Warcraft was the devil's game alongside dungeons and dragons. I did not play world of Warcraft until my 20s

  • First of all, games didn't require updating when I was a teen (I'm 32).

Secondly, the parents always had a huge long list of chores they'd been saving up for just a day like that. They enjoyed my suffering. (I do not mean this sarcastically, they were abusive lol)

I achieved the top part of the meme in my 30s. All my friends game, I have a loving fiance who also games, and I have two dogs and a cat on my lap while I game. The dream is alive and real. Fuck being a teenager.

  • Yeah when I first got him he was my first pet as an adult living by myself. He drove me insane with his meowing. I found out that keeping the bowl full would let me get some sleep. He was a 1 year old malnourished rescue so I think he had issues with food insecurity. But I took him to the vet for the first time a couple years ago and they told me he needed to go from his 8kg down to probably about 5kg. So no more full food bowl and back to getting yelled at 24/7. He's 11 now and hasn't changed.

  • My cat gets both wet and dry, he gets bladder infections really easily if we only give him dry. He's always hungry if we only give him wet, and he's overweight so we can't keep giving him more to keep him quiet lol.
