In a fight between delusion and physics, physics may always win but delusion never concedes.

  • Affinity is good, and runs OK on Linux with recent versions of wine. Resolve is very good. A credible alternative to Premiere, though Fusion isn't all that compared to Ae.

Ardour is great right now. As is Reaper.

  • Gimp is still not an alternative to Ps. Not even close.

  • Blah blah blah

The difference engine was never built by Babbage.

This is a false comparison built upon a false presumption.

  • All the ways that loom stitching - like a player piano - is not Turing complete, much less like large training set AI.

  • No. There are genuine problems with EVs in the kind of cold and snow Canada sees in the heartland and up north. But you'll see lots of EVs in Vancouver, where weather is moderate.

  • In Vancouver, BC. There are public toilets here. Big self cleaning stainless steel boxes on the sidewalk. Go in, have your piss. Except there's also a huge drugged out street population too. So I'm walking Robeson St and I see a wasted guy pissing on the outside of the toilet in broad daylight. I'm like, he's missing the mark in more ways than one!

  • Marx did not - could not - conceive of thinking machines in Capital. AI is in a different class than a weaving mill.

  • Republicans control all three branches of government. But yeah, let's focus on the opposition party out of power.

  • I'm all for replacing fluoride in water with ethanol. It lowers IQ, damages teeth, and fosters violence, but it'd be a lot more fun than fluoride.

  • Not good just the same. Hacking readers' computers via a capta exploit is some next level nefarious shit above and beyond changing archived text.

Both violate users' trust though. I had no idea about this.

  • Should lower the price of meat with fewer customers for it.

  • GIMP has improved but 3.2 still lacks alpha masks on nondestructive filter layers. That is a showstopper for me. Krita has a functioning nondestructive workflow but GIMP has better filters.

Affinity is a commercial tool that gets you 90% to Ps. GIMP isn't in the same league and neither is Krita for photo editing. If you want to paint though, Krita is fantastic.

  • Do you have a cite for that? This is the first I heard of this.

  • Not a Brit. Sorry.

  • DO NOT CHOP ONIONS WHILE COOKING WITH REMAINING EYE

  • A lot of people buy new cars with dealer financing at perhaps the worst interest rate possible, for a car that will lose 10%-15% of its value the moment the contract is signed and the vehicle is driven off the dealership's lot.

  • They could have done this forty years ago. And a moonbase is a waste of money and time. And it's all moot because Trump just nuked another $14B off NASA's budget anyway.

  • The device remains useful. Jailbreak it. Or sideload books with Calibre over USB. The DX in particular is still a nice ereader.

    Fuck Amazon.
