  • Best part: every fridge in every house already does this. You just collect the money!

  • If it was a choice, don't you think I'd try it? I'm not getting much luck on the other side!

  • Maybe the imperialists were on to something?

  • but there are foss programs you have to buy and after you bought it you are free to do with it what you want.

Any examples? I'm just curious how they stay afloat after sharing the source code once someone buys it, forks it and releases the source.Maybe 'F' in FOSS does not mean it is gratis (de jure), but it is in fact gratis (de facto) for the majority of FOSS?

  • The bar has fallen hasn't it? Dubya had a lower rating and he at least handled himself with more decorum than Trump even has the capacity for. This 33 needs to drop below 20.

  • I also love Kate, but I call her Katie.

  • Just a euphemism to get rid of the common denominator and if you have a desire to learn, you will be going beyond what the average person knows about computers. An immich server is not a particularly difficult thing to achieve. Think about hardware first, where it will run and where you want something running 24/7 (or not?). Then move to OS and software. Once you got it working locally, think about backups and how you will access it from the internet as your next steps. If you are a "learn as you go" type, you already have a goal and that's exactly what you need to start.Sorry I'm being so abstract, but anything else and I'd just be giving you a guide lol.

  • I've had zero problems installing it and exposing it on one of my subdomains via nginx. I thought it was one of the easiest things to install and configure. Like, no errors or unknowns when installing. That being said, this isn't something the average user will be or even should be doing. Its a niche product for the tech literate, not an alternative for what cloud providers are offering. I'd not recommend it to anyone who can't tell the difference between "wifi" and "internet".

  • 7 is the magic number for me. 1-5 feels like its bots, 6 is close, 7 is 'yeah, I feel validated'.

  • Better than a machine which we don't know the performance or price of? WOW!But seriously, yeah you're probably gonna be able to match steam machine performance with your own build, maybe under price or over depending on your region. However, you will not be able to put it in a sub 4L case. That's the real trick valve is pulling.Haven't heard of any comparisons of NUC style machines. If any can match performance of the steam machine, they have real alternative possibilities. Just dont show me a PS5 sized pc and say it can equal performance.. cause yeah.. I wouldn't dobt that, but that's nothing special. Call me when you got it in a 16cm cube.

  • 'Killing' is the movement, 'destroying' is the EU initiative. There is no rename, they both exist. Why different? They take you more seriously in law making settings if you don't use euphemisms and are coincise with your wording.

  • Afaik, Microsoft made it a core principle to not break backward compatibility. Something that mattered to a lot of enterprise users. Applications made in Windows XP era, still work today on Win 11.

  • A one dimensional political spectrum! Proper shit post, sir!

  • Make Arch Great Again!

  • You can generally use CS as a springboard into most tech related fields. Where its most helpful is probably research and academia. If programming is even remotely interesting for you, getting a low paying junior dev job will probably teach you more and you can use that as a springboard into more software dev, data, AI, cybersecurity, networking... As long as you are willing to learn on the job and push yourself forward.

  • In search of the g spot?

  • I remember from elementary school days... it really was supposed to be space travel. Damn.

  • Any idea how proton handles this for windows only games running on linux? Where is My Documents mapped to?

  • I wonder why...VLC: a free and open source video player meant to be used by literally everyone.Astronauts: a select few chosen people with little to no health problems, in top physical and mental form one could only dream of having.I think the Simpsons were on to something when they sent Homer to space.
