  • Not to mention the endless barrage of short videos is destroying people's attention span and ability to think - there isn't even time to reflect on the content, you just "react" and move on. AI is probably creating a huge negative impact on learning capability too.

  • Big tech social media for sure (especially the video platforms). Their algorithms are predatory as fuck.Just the other day here there was a guy that killed his wife because she wanted a divorce, and his messages were stuff like "I am an alpha" and shit like that, mentioning stupid "influencers" and "coaches". This is just one more idiot who was brainwashed by targeted content tailored to create echo chambers that breed extremism because it drives up engagement and ad revenue.

  • Ouch, I didn't know they made a new cartoon, the CIA-funded one wasn't that bad though, but yeah, I think Animal Farm IS kid-friendly and a very good material for kids.

  • Usually the old material wasn't any different.

  • Reading through the thread I see a lot of people had to go through hoops, like getting peripherals to make copies of ROMs on floppy... discovering this was probably for a few more tech-savvy kids who had an older brother or friends to introduce them to it... and no solution for N64.I guess this kind of contraband we had here would be harder in first world countries, but third world countries are a huge market for piracy simply because a large portion of the population can't pay for original stuff.

  • I guess it depends on the country. I have an American friend who said he didn't have many games because cartridges were too expensive in the 90s. Well, I never bought an original cartridge here in Brazil - the pirated ones were like 4 to 8x cheaper, and they were as easy to find as the originals. Now for Saturn and PS1, well, unlike cartridges that had to be imported from Chinese manufacturers, vendors could make copies at home, so games were dirt cheap, same for PS2 - stuff like $1 to $5 per game, while originals were like $30 to $60. My friend said that, as a kid, he never came across pirated games (he was from Detroit).

  • maybe it's not a feature but a bug, they didn't plan it be there, but there it was

  • you probably have hundreds of rapists in your ancestry

  • Oh yeah, I forgot about that. This issue has been going on for quite awhile. Cbox collects some statistics, and Firefox has been flagging it as tracking/fingerprinting because it's a CORS iframe. Cbox claims it's a false positive and that they just collect IPs that interact with the chat to show stuff like a visitor counter, the amount of unique visitors, and countries of origin as a feature for users, and also to let the user block IPs if someone is trolling/spamming the chat, and that there is no cross-user/cbox tracking and they have requested to be whitelisted, but to this day Firefox hasn't gotten back to them.Cbox is whitelisted by uBlock Origin, AdGuard, by Brave's tracking protection and most importantly it's not on any of HaGeZi's list, so yeah I believe Firefox is tripping, so I just added an Enhanced Tracking Protection exception on my browser to be able to interact with cboxes on the wild (I surf a lot indieweb)

  • You mean when you click the Links label it doesn't change the content displayed (it's just a radio input, working here on Firefox 148 and Brave 1.89), or that clicking outgoing links are not working? (there is only one on the Links section so far)

  • what it has become?

  • I say "morning is not as cold as the night" and the comments are about fabric, then the person does not know thermostats are an exception and not a rule... and yeah, I find the normalization of the idea of burning energy to control the house temperature 24/7 disturbing - you find it normal? let's hope other societies don't, because we'd have to destroy way more of the world just to produce the energy.

  • I'm assuming you're all from a place where society collectively decided to burn energy 24/7 to control the temperature in the whole house instead of just putting on or removing a layer of clothing... in about 90% of the world the reason is just because it's cold or hot outside, then it's a bit cold or a bit hot inside as well.

  • yeah, it retains, and as I said, our natural body temperature is uncomfortable for us, and that's bullshit design

  • I made some changes to the mobile version and added the button there too... the numbers are probably confusing to read for everyone, I don't intend people to actually read them, although they are time stamps - I'm also testing accessibility for screenreaders so in the code the numbers, slashs and colons are ignored and the screenreader reads "// 202604212244 :" as "April 21, 2026 at 22:44" (I'm not actually expecting any blind person to find this site, I'm just practicing how to code a site with accessibility, thanks for the help!)
