Hey there, I'm quite new around here, I'm personally a leftist who believes in Maoist thought and wants to live in a socialist country at some point in my life.

Strongly opposed to all forms of capital, using they/them pronouns.

  • Although I personally believe that GrapheneOS reigns supreme as the best android rom out there, I can understand why others would use for example CalyxOS. But remember buckos, make sure to check the privacy policy of all applications before using them! Open source browsers are the best, and always will be.

  • Ok, counter points to your counter points:

    1. We shouldn't have to. Advertising as a browser as being privacy friendly means it should be like that by default, and there is no way to verify if firefox is still collecting telemetry without checking the source code (and I don't think anyone will waste their time doing that).
    2. No comment needed.
    3. I phrased it weirdly because it is weird, plus I just hate censorship in general so I'm going to shit on it as much as humanly possible.
    4. Incorrect, the CEO has a giant paycheck of millions which could go into building firefox itself, and yet he wonders why the project is so desperate.
    5. Recommending Brave is absolutely vile, please never do that again. If you can't use Vanadium then take a look at one of the many browsers on the F-Droid app store.
    6. This is an opinionated statement of mine and I won't bother trying to change yours, I just don't like my hands with blood on them, it's dirty.

    Little extra: me calling mozilla "modzilla" was just a minor spelling mistake, no need to worry about that.

  • When new engines become usable, I'll use them. For now I need to do more research in to how they work. I'll probably use Servo when it becomes more usable as I like the sound of it.

  • Modzilla used to be good, they used to be non profit and now they aren't. They've just turned into a new version of Brave. The least we can do is use a browser that actually respects our privacy by default and is non profit instead of wasting time using a for profit piece of software.

  • In laymans terms; Modzilla knows what they're doing, it's like the Chromium virus (think about all the forks) but on a slightly smaller scale. The best thing we could do would be to make a new engine, but this would just inevitably lead into a new monopoly itself (unless it was non profit, which Modzilla is not, and neither is Firefox). I choose to still use a firefox fork that is actually DECENT because it is one of the only options left for privacy preservation, and I'd prefer to go with the smaller one of two evils.

  • Thanks for your comment! Yeah, sorry if the FPS wasn't very good XD I'm pretty new to editing but I try my best and I couldn't find a lot of good background footage online without watermarks or anything, idk about Smarttube, but I use Clipious on Android and it's decent privacy wise. Glad that you cared about FOSS software at such a young age and I wish you luck on your privacy journey.

  • This is true, however, considering that brave has been removing their important privacy features (strict fingerprint blocking), has telemetry ON by default, and is involved with a lot of crypto shenanigans, I thought it deserved to be in the slot for "shit software that normies use".

  • Your point about Signal has no evidence, funded by doesn't mean that it's lead by the CIA, if it was, why would Edward Snowden use it, and why would they constantly share no real information with the authorities? DDG is still much more private than Google, although it can be questioned for it's censorship of "Pro-Russian" search results. Also, you sent yet another link with Google trackers, well done, source dismissed.

  • Sigh because, as a wise man, kenny, aka Mental Outlaw, once explained, you can use a burner phone if this is an issue. You can optionally provide Signal with a username/nickname of choice but what you do with that is up to you. You can also hide your phone number from everyone and refuse to let people add you via your phone number. Unless you're a dumbass that has everything linked to one phone number or email, I don't see how this would be a problem.

  • This tinfoil hat statement you made is not at all true, Signal provides a stronger E2EE chat service than WhatsApp and Telegram ever will, refusing to add backdoors and only cooperating with law enforcement if it's the only option to keep Signal alive. Regardless of this unfortunate fact (that they do have to cooperate in some, extremely rare cases) they would never send over chat logs or images because they DON'T log your conversations. Messages are stored locally on your device so they have nothing to send. Stop spreading FUD just because Signal is a project you don't like due to political views.
