    Honestly very little. I hated the lack of choices for TV/Radio, being forced to watch/listen to what ever the stations decided everyone must. The limited news telling whatever biases the state wanted pushed. The limited social views and lack of represented diversity. For someone who didn't fit in with mainstream society, in a small town with limited options, it was very alienating being forced to conform to the same as everyone else.

    I guess if I had to pick one thing I liked, it was going to the video store and renting a game and playing it for a weekend because I didn't have anything else, even if it was a bad game I still got a lot value out of it.

    So I liked the limited choices I could make, but I didn't like the decisions made for me.

    I haven't used NodeBB as a user, I assume you cannot subscribe to other instances communities (or do you call them boards?) and only get the choice of what's on your host?

  • I’m sorry you feel that way, personally when I read this I get angry at the system and my own inaction and it makes me want to fight it.

    Agitation is a big part convincing someone to want to do the strategies. That’s why I find posts like this beneficial.

  • Can’t speak for others but before transitioning I always wished I could be a lesbian. I often found myself hanging out with lesbians and surrounding myself in lesbian culture. 9/10 times I was attracted to someone it turned out they were a lesbian, etc.

    It was very confusing, because it’s like “I’m male so this must just be straight” but inside being a lesbian just felt right?

    Despite this you call yourself an “ally”, it’s analogous to saying you’re anti-racist and screaming the N word at someone because you didn’t like them.

  • Signing up for both causes no harm and provides redundancy.

    This one offers adding communities through the Threadiverse via messaging the bot. Meaning it can be used completely independently of ever visiting the site straight from your app of choice.

    It also has a PieFed plugin (thanks to the wonder @wjs018@piefed.social) in the works that will auto add new comms on any instance running the plugin to the database. Just waiting for a hook to be merged into a future PF update before that can be finalised.

  • It’s a call to action for those of us who are privileged, that we need to be doing more praxis to undo the systems that oppress and exploit of which these benefits come from.

  • Nope, literally call myself a lesbian - sometimes we say transbian to further identity ourselves but that just means trans and lesbian.

    Also Lesbians are on the whole the most supportive demographic and the least likely to have issue with trans women. We consider them our biggest allies.

    This is TERFs (Trans Exclusionary Radical "Feminists") trying to push trans women out of womens spaces.
