  • Um das mal mit einem Beispiel zu untermalen: Wenn du für ein Bauvorhaben eine Baulast auf dem Grundstück deiner Nachbarn eintragen lassen möchtest, müssen alle Besitzer des Grundstücks dem schriftlich vor Ort in der Baubehörde zustimmen, soweit so gut.

    Damit das veranlasst und durchgeführt werden kann benötigt das Bauamt eine Liste mit allen betroffenen Personen (Besitzer Gläubiger, Nutznießer etc.) Diese Liste steht im Grundbucheintrag des Grundstücks.

    Naiv könnte man denke, das Bauamt fordert Zugriff auf diese Ressource für die Bearbeitung der Angelegenheit an und kann die Liste auslesen.

    Legt man seinen Wahrnehmungsmaßstab für Behörden an könnte man meinen, dass das Bauamt erst beim Amtsgericht anrufen muss oder ein Fax schicken muss.

    Alles falsch. Als Antragssteller muss ich folgendes tun:

    • Eine Vollmacht zum einholen eines Grundbuchauszug meiner Nachbarn einholen
    • Ein Schreiben aufsetzen und ausdrucken, mit der Bitte um den Grundbuchauszug
    • Beides an das Amtsgericht schicken
    • Die Gebühr bezahlen

    Der Auszug drf bei der Unterzeichnung der Dokumente nicht älter als ein Monat sein. Wenn der Prozess länger dauert, geht der Spaß von vorne los.

    Das ist der lanwirrigste Datenbankabruf von 30 Zeilen Text, den ich kenne.

  • For non-English folks, what are some books and other media in your native language you'd recommend to others?

  • A great series is the german "Tatortreiniger" which translates to something like "crime scene cleaner". I'd describe it as a small scale theatre like series, each episode playing inside a house or a few rooms, with a few characters. The main character usually has to clean up a crime scene and is confronted with the other residents of the building. It has a special kind of humor, mostly transported by really strange everyday situations.

  • The products are probably not bad on purpose, but the use of addictive substances or replacing costly (good) with cheap alternatives, is a great way to reduce production costs and to increase sales.

    Reduce vegetable components, increase sugar and salt. Fill up with water, adjust viscosity. Similar taste, much cheaper, more addictive and worse for your body.

  • I support that point of view, but you also have to compare their performance to human drivers. We often have the expectation that technology have to be perfect (which it isn't). Since you also have an IT background you know this pretty well probably. But if it's safer than human drivers it could as well be an improvement.

  • Würde auch sagen, dass es kein inhaltliches Thema in Schulen sein sollte. Gibt aus meiner Sicht zwei relevante Bereiche dafür:

    • Nutzungskompetenz: KI-Systeme sind oberflächlich nur IT-Anwendungen, bei denen ich den gleichen kritischen Blick auf die Daten/Ergebnisse haben sollte wie bei allem anderen auch (z.B. Wikipedia oder Internetquellen). Das ist wahrscheinlich immer noch etwas wo Ausbaubedarf besteht.

    • Entwicklung von KI: Wenn ich mir die Inhalte von Informatikunterricht anschaue und die Erfahrung von Lehrern mit aktuellen IT Inhalten und das mit der Komplexität der Entwicklung anschaue, fällt die Entscheidung einfach aus: können die Lehrer nicht leisten, lernt man bei Interesse im (Selbst) Studium.

  • Same for me. Time spend getting to work is basically also work time, which is usually not paid.

    For a "fun" experiment just calculate how many hours you are on the way to work every year:

    daily_travel_minutes * days_on_site / 60

    Divide this by 8 to see how many holidays you get by switching to a fully/mostly remote job.
