  • Maybe by 'true gamer' they mean someone whose identity is defined by gaming? Not for me to say whether or not that's healthy, but it's certainly extreme. And then going further to link this identity to gender is just weird. I mean, who cares? We're all just text on the internet to each other, what difference does gender or sexuality or race etc make to gaming? Unless it's a game that explores those themes, it shouldn't, but here we are.

  • I don't get much screen time - work and other hobbies - but I've somehow got over 300 hours in cyberpunk. Also, I'm fairly new to it at the mo, but I could see myself putting a lot of hours into mewgenics.

  • Meat and dairy are heavily subsidised

  • You shouldn't be paying that much for Bolognese sauce, it is cheap to make and tastes better.

  • I'm told it's great in VR. Never tried it, but if the steam frame ever appears. . .

  • Oh I know it is. I just kinda suspect lemmy is beneath their notice. If it becomes popular we'll see the bots come creeping in.

  • Is this a Firefox extension?

  • Many of us here stopped a while back. For me, it was the API thing a couple of years ago. But it's still useful to check reddit website for info - there's just so many answers to so many questions on there. But fuck using their app.

  • Lol you think there's a CCP botnet on Lemmy?

  • I think it means like hanging around. But I guess they thought a 'Hanging around' charge would be hard to take seriously in court. Land of the free, eh

  • I just took a shit that would beg to differ

  • Same with alien

  • To where? I guess Russia might want them, can't think who else would. North Korea would take them just for publicity value. I can't think of any other country that would even consider taking a mass arrival of deported magas. I guess they'd learn what it's like to be an unwelcome immigrant.

  • Splat!

  • "Beautiful, clean coal!"

  • I'm curious what exactly this means. . . Are they taking raw materials in one door and finished cars out the other? Because that seems unlikely, would be impressive tho.

  • The fact is, it can be a very useful technology when deployed sensibly. Yes, it's going to inflict massive harm on society in multiple ways - but just dismissing it as shit is putting your head in the sand. We need to be figuring out how to ensure that the harm it does is minimised and ideally that it's used in ways that benefit us all. Fuck knows how though.

But it's not just going to go away, no matter how much we might want it to.

  • Can we give Darwin awards to companies?

  • I read a book recently that discussed similar issues. Called Blindsight. Really good book if you like sci-fi.
