  • I highly recommend everyone read Invisible Women. It's full of interesting anecdotes like you've just identified.

    https://carolinecriadoperez.com/book/invisible-women/

Modern smartphones are too big for women's pockets and too big for their average hand size so as a result women are far more likely to drop phones and incur unnecessary expense of replacing them. Our world is simply designed around a male default and apparently we just accept that.

  • The problem with refills is they're never discounted whereas the bottled products are. Therefore you end up paying a premium for less packaging, it's infuriating.

  • What do you do differently? I've been on Bluefin for 2 years but still never bothered with dev containers or anything

  • SSHFS is pretty simple to use.

Just mount the media directory of the PI as a directory on the NAS. Then the Jellyfin instance on the NAS basically treats it as a local directory.

I've done it with Plex in the past, no reason it wouldn't also work for Jellyfin

  • Again, I'm not saying Linux is bad or even at fault for these issues, but these issues exist and I it's valid that some people don't wanna deal with it.

You don't know that these things issues exist because you've never tried it.

You even admit at times you're too lazy to even set these things up.

If you have a highly customised setup you need to accept some responsibility for it and not expect others to test it for you.

  • It's hardly diminishing your anonymity. There are plenty of services to create an anonymous email account.

  • Of all the weapons in the vast Soviet arsenal nothing was more profitable than Avtomat Kalashnikova model of 1947, more commonly known as the AK-47, or Kalashnikov.

It's the world's most popular assault rifle, a weapon all fighters love. An elegantly simple nine pound amalgamation of forged steel and plywood, it doesn't break, jam, or overheat. It will shoot whether it's covered in mud or filled with sand.

It's so easy even a child can use it, and they do.

The Soviets put the gun on a coin, Mozambique put it on their flag. Since the end of the Cold War, the Kalashnikov has become the Russian people's greatest export. After that comes vodka, caviar, and suicidal novelists. One thing is for sure; no one was lining up to buy their cars.

  • It's completely unnecessary. It's clear what OP meant, the typo doesn't change anything so pointing it out is simply petty pedantree.

Querying or correcting errors is only worth doing when the error causes uncertainty, such when there's reason to believe they've missed a "not".

  • War was the one thing the US was good at, now they have nothing of value left for the rest of the world.

    Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan.

US is good at pumping infinite money into the military. But they definitely aren't "good" at war.

    1. I actively chose software written in Rust over other software, even if it's not better, and I argue that it is.

Rust has quite a high barrier for entry which is likely to deter inexperienced developers. I'd say that's enough justification to favour software written in Rust.

Python on the other hand is far too easy to get started with, thus the ecosystem is plagued with terrible software. I avoid it like the plague. Yes, there some decent projects written in Python but they are rare things

  • Ah, that's where DuckDuckGo is being particular unhelpful.

You can read Boost's privacy policy by going to:

    Settings > Privacy Policy

    Which takes you to: https://www.iubenda.com/privacy-policy/16063183

    It mentions that Boost uses:

These are standard tools used by developers. They're not advertising networks, they aren't selling your data. There's nothing nefarious about them. You can follow those links to learn more about them.

Firebase is owned by Google and these API are hosted under google domains:

So I can see why DuckDuckGo is labelling them as Google but it's a little misleading.

  • Which companies is the App Tracking Protection recording Boost connecting to?
