  • Yep! And you should also try blurring a cropped layer instead of cropping a blurred layer. The former is technically what I had actually done with the two GIFs above. The order in which those two effects are stacked can make a significant difference.

  • Are you saying that the credits were well obscured and that you couldn't even tell that something was blurred? Or that you had a difficult time being able to discern what is even going on in the GIF? I made these from scratch, so I am absolutely open to any constructive criticism to help me improve my technique.

  • (And please don’t say Kdenlive. Have you ever tried to add a simple effect like blur to a part of a video? It’s super cumbersome.)

What is your issue with blur? As long as you understand the intuitive "everything is an effect" methodology that Kdenlive follows, blurring a portion of the screen is straightforward. Note these clips in which I had blurred the credits appearing onscreen so they do not clash with the captions I added. Add a blur effect, then a crop effect.

  • The article does not specify what sort of businesses they purchased the samples from, just "sold in Portland, Oregon". So, I presume they did purchase some of the samples from reputable dispensaries.

This phenomenon also occurs on the dark web, which I think most consumers agree is generally a safer source than gas stations. You can find all sorts of "shroom extract" type products that are marketed as being made with psilocybin that they extracted from mushrooms. But the community consensus is that at best, they are most likely actually just using synthetic grey-market 4-AcO-DMT, and at worst, the products contain some unknown substance, so it is just best to steer clear entirely.

  • Closest thing we can do is make verifying them not necessary.

So I should be able to just enter email@example.com as my email address? How can I tell whether or not a given instance requires verification?

  • Lemmy allows instance administrators to choose whether or not email is is required for registration. All the Lemmy accounts I have used have been without an email address. I am not sure if PieFed does not offer that option, or if there are simply no anonymous PieFed instances at the moment. Which is totally understandable.

  • I had never heard of The Captains' Summit

Star Trek: The Captains' Summit is a Paramount Pictures Star Trek documentary which was released on Blu-ray video on 12 May 2009 and later on DVD. It was produced for inclusion in the Star Trek: Original Motion Picture Collection Blu-ray and DVD sets as a separate bonus disc.

Whoopi Goldberg hosted William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, Leonard Nimoy, and Jonathan Frakes in a seventy-minute round-table discussion centered around performing the role of a Starfleet captain.

The actors recounted many anecdotes regarding the production of their respective Star Trek projects and the aftermath following their tenure as captain.

  • having an option to auto collapse/hide them, but still access them if needed would make things easier for many folk

This logic could also be useful if applied to comments from filtered users. As OP mentions:

blocking someone will hide their comments AND any replies to those comments

I can definitely imagine the following chain of events occurring:

    1. Reading through comments under a post
    2. Glossing over a collapsed comment from a filtered user
    3. Feeling lost reading the replies to that filtered comment
    4. Wanting to briefly un-filter that comment just to get the appropriate context
