  • Via LA told Streaming Media that it contacted unlicensed media companies during 2025 to give them “a window to secure a license” under the previous terms, but the company didn’t go to the trouble of issuing a press release or public announcement, opting instead for direct outreach. Any company that didn’t respond or wasn't contacted now faces the new rate structure as its starting point for negotiations.

  • Elastic is heaaaaavy. You might want to check out Loki, I haven't used it but I think it'd be easier to get started with than Victoria logs since it integrates tightly with grafana

  • Yeah 😢 , my phone went off and woke me up this morning. It's also represented on https://status.fedecan.ca/

    I did a whack of tuning on Sunday, banning bots and adding the second piefed server back in. That seems to have mostly stabilized lemmy, but piefed is a little more rocky still. May need to give me to the end of the long weekend to try to things back close to 100% uptime.

    I am missing cloudflare a little now 😂

  • Both give you the same content, but the software stacks are very different. There's also significant political differences between the Lemmy devs and the piefed dev. You can view the same content on both, and many mobile clients support both.
