  • Moreover, history books often ignore the inhuman conditions these workers were forced to endure. Look up the Hawk’s Nest Tunnel. They knew how dangerous it was; they knew the workers would be dead within a year(they chewed through them in 3-6 months. Still, they made them work with no protection at all. Fighting takes more than just holding a sign.

  • I was pissed when I got to college and learned the truth about the black panthers, police history, labor history, etc. it's not ALL bad either. Vigilance committees in some places were actually pretty okay by standards. The Montana Vigilance Committee for example. Still, it wasn't even college. It was the internet. It was teaching myself by listening to podcasts, reading books, watching videos on old YT that were more than 2 minutes long.

  • Capital has been festering division for most of this country’s history. It used racism to keep labor weak.

  • This is why you can’t let them convince you that only nonviolent solutions are acceptable. The state will always wield violence against anything it perceives as a threat. Change is often written in blood. Don’t let them cow you into learned helplessness.

  • same! I love femcel memes. The lesbian ones are pretty funny too but it's the same thing. It's not my space to yap in, but I'm going to save that meme and share it with my friends.

  • yep. I'm curious what kind of country I'll be living in after. We all see ourselves as American (those of us who are such) but certainly we'd crack up into a few countries. It's always the disccussion of "It's going to collapse! It's going to collapes!" We should seriously be talking about what the region is going to look like AFTER the collapse and what we can do to prepare for it now.

If for no other reason than the ability to do so would be gone while the reformation happens.

  • 20-40 bucks. Target. Goodwill. If you need a fancy appliance to feel special at least get something like an esspresso machine. I can make toast on the stovetop ffs

  • I was going to make some joke, but instead I’m just going to talk about being heartbroken.

Because if, by some miracle, we get more anti-establishment elected officials in 2028, their policies would most assuredly destroy the country. Not because those policies are bad, but because the safety nets that would have absorbed the market shock were destroyed by this administration.

  • This is probably the most unnecessary thing I have seen as a Copilot use case. Was the SUM function really that hard? =SUM(A3:A1) and most of the time you don't even have to type it. just...why?

  • Now, let’s discuss fraud, waste, and abuse.

  • You’re looking at his eyes. I feel like I can smell his breath as it hits my face. Truly a terrible picture.

  • This was very informative. I was slightly sheltered from the nature of the server because I didn't log into my hexbear often and generally I just broswed the most popular posts. Thanks for the share.

  • A classical approach. That’s so refreshing.

  • I love the Piracy Wiki! I’m never sure if I fit in some places when applying. I might have a dbzer0 account, but I can’t remember if I got intimidated by their sign-up process or not. I’m not super tech-literate, just enough to be dangerous and think I can build a home server.

  • Unfortunately, it’s what has become of the internet. If you’re not correct enough, then you are now “other.” I wish more people could see what the tribalism is doing. I miss the old internet every day. For a small window of time, we were all made closer by being able to talk to each other. Ignorance was forgiven if it was acknowledged, if you showed growth. Then assholes with money and an agenda started controlling the conversation. I’m sure there are true believers out there who stifle and snub anyone who isn’t 100% on board with their ideology, but for a time we were building coalitions to change the world.

  • Are you allowed to make suggestions or is that against the rules? earnest question. There are tons of servers out there. I imagine Anarchist ones are also blacklisted in a lot of places.

  • Thank you, I had found the Lemmy post, but it was three years old. That's an eternity in online forum time. The other links still make it seem like a cool place with cool people.

  • ml was actually my first server on the mobile app. I had no idea it was a black sheep until other communities on other servers stopped giving me access. I can't even remember now. I've been on world and just viewing offline for a while now.

  • Ask Lemmy @lemmy.world

Can someone explain the hexbear community?
