  • I guest that just makes for an even worse case for face scans than genitals scans. But if genitals scans are linked with name and address (because of cause they would be right) Im not sure what is worse then.

  • Alternative ending: "Now pull down your pants in front of this camera so we can use an AI algorithm to identify your gender. Don't worry, the software is approved by the govonment and the pictures are processed by secure servers...... Few days layer news headline: Big data breach, thousands of secure photos leaked"

Basically same as age verification photo scans at this point.

  • 6 DAYS!! Those are rookie numbers

  • my concern is that we’re just generating more waste and raising costs.

I dont think you should worry about that. Having batteries glued in makes for worse recycling than removable batteries. glued Batteries causes a lot of issues in ewaste recycling and loss of rare metals. Easily removable batteries makes for a higher chance of recycling said batteries and actually lithium batteries are highly recyclable, so much so that raw materials made from recycled batteries is of higher quality than mined materials because they are more pure to begin with.

Properly recycling batteries separately is always better than ewasted batteries.

  • Anyone who knows if I can migrate a huge old light room library. I closed my subscription about 3 years ago and my library has just been sitting there since. All my eddits should be saved in sidecar files but there is probably other stuff saved in the library that could be useful. I tried darktables back then, but I kinda dropped photography as a hobby so never looked much into it. I want to pick it up again some time soon tho

  • You can make Thunderbird search work!? Tell me your secretes because Thunderbird can never find anything for me other than all the wrong things.

  • search in Thunderbird is worse than windows search tbh. It can't find anything and even when its right there among the first few emails.

  • If only they would obliterate Facebook then! Facebook is notorious for doing this when getting to forum posts from google and I'm trying to go back to google, and it it pisses me off.

  • I installed OpenWrt on a pi once and the SD card corrupted all the time so I had to give up. Anyone who knows how to prevent that, because I actually have a new use case I need it for and I'm hesitating because of the trouble. I need it for a WiFi wireguard bridge

  • Fellow Copenhagener here... Which store are you buying from. Exact same situation as you describe. Dishwasher for most things but the big things are annoying to wash and I just want to make it a little easier.

  • Can we start calling Bloatbuntu like we call it Microslop

  • I tried but can't find anything available to buy and anything I find is wall mounted giant units.

  • I can imagine it work, but as you say it should probably be a special soap formulation, especially if you have hard water. I Once tried bar soap shampoo that was "recommended for hard water" and it was still a disaster and my hair was like a stiff bristle afterwards due to the mineral deposits.

  • That's kinda what I have already. I wanted a zero handed option so I dont even need to take my hand off the brush.

  • For doing dishes? never seen that around here. Also regardless of that I have extremely hard water so almost any bar of soap does not work nicely at all since it instantly leaves a lot of mineral deposits. Only bar of soap I know that works is Dove cream bar but that is just for hands and body use, not for dishes.

  • Thank you so much for all of this info. No worries being "late" the trip is still months away and I intend to sit this one out to make sure i don't make any hasty decisions. I'm also still looking at buying in Tokyo to get better prices but not sure yet. Currently I'm looking at the OM-3 that seems to be everything I want, but i'm affraid it'll be too big and bulky. I'm looking for a local store where i can go try holding a bunch of cameras to get a better feel for it. The OM-3 will be a splurge and possibly overkill so having plenty of time until the trip will hopefully make me feel what i actually need and what it's right for me. The Olympus PEN ep7 is probably a better option for me, but until I have it in my hands I won't yet be able to tell for sure.

but some modern micro four thirds cameras cameras use full frame bodies (looking at you Panasonic)

I totally agree. This is so annoying. Also that size comparing website you linked is awesome. love it and thank you again.

  • My bank uses 2fA where if used in a browser it wants me to scan a QR code on the screen with another app on my phone... I need a very complicated set of mirrors for that to work...
