  • It's interesting how a person's take on modern medicine gets completely reorganized when they're not able to breathe.

"I don't care until I'm affected" is what many people's mindset is.

  • In my current work, now I fully crystallised what wage theft truly means. In theory we have flexible hours. If I work extra one hour in any given day, I could theoretically go home one hour early. But in reality we are working extra hours unpaid. I work in healthcare sector and it's understandable that delays could mean the patient will be jeopardised. But the management fuck ups mean we pick up the slack but then bear the ire of poor management decisions.

  • A teen detective? Is he some kind of child prodigy to have already started working? That being said, I always wonder why animes always have the main characters being in their teens or early twenty's. They depict those who are in their late twenty's as being ancient and near their twilight. Granted I don't watch many animes unlike many people here, but the ones I've seen have the main characters being really young and already doing adult stuff like Evangelion and Attack om Titan. People in their 30s and middle age people are sidelined as if they are pensioners. There are only few fully grown and mature adults who gets the spotlight.

  • I'm glad I stop paying Netflix for subscription.

  • I remember when I felt invincible, like the world is my oyster. It felt like yesterday. Even though I didn't achieve everything that I hoped, I'm glad I was raised to just enjoy the journey.

  • I say we nuke it from orbit then.

  • Quantum computing will only be useful to a handful of people instead of mass consumer use. Quantum computers are mainly for cybersecurity.

  • Yeah, but remember, their taxes are so low that businesses can afford to pay their employees so much that most Anericans are actually incredibly wealthy.

That's the theory for "trickle down" economics, but in reality it's piss trickling down.

  • South China Sea is a chokepoint which sees many trades passing through, which China is trying to monopolise. And yet you think that is different from US trying to control the Strait of Hormuz...

  • And how many support China?

  • I don't remember who said it, but I'm pretty sure the wealthy admitted themselves that they are in competition with each other on how much their net worth is. It is purely just trying to one-up each other. I'm not saying I'm wealthy but I kinda get why they do it.

  • And what does that have to do with China doing their own imperialism by water-hosing Filipino and Vietnamese fishermen well before the war, depriving fishermen of their livelihood? What makes you think China will not escalate from waterhosing when they are already sending warships?

I asked this to many of your "comrades". Have you actually spoken to Filipinos what they think of China? Did you physically go to Vietnam or Philippines and asked them of their opinions?

  • Have you actually spoken to people you purport to defend what they think of China?

  • I think this conflict will be resolved peacefully because neither country benefits from open conflict. China doesn't really do war.

They are squatting, with the Chinese warships within Philippine territory without permission.

Besides, the US-caused energy crisis is going to do more to deprive Philippine fishermen of their livelihoods than China ever has.

    Typical cope.

Sure, as if being water-hosed by Chinese navy to prevent you from fishing is caused by oil supply restrictions!

  • China is already squatting in Philippines' sovereign waters, and you think China won't do anything in the future? Of course, you would not, because you are cheerleading your own team regardless of your own team being guilty of the same imperialism that you pretend to be against.

  • Why? Hits on your nerve that you're actually whiteclowning??

  • TankieJerk @piefed.social

As a person of colour, I find tankies to be self-hating and patronisingly racists.

  • Tell that to Filipino fishermen deprived of their livelihood. I bet you never heard of their complaints, let alone actually listen to them. But what do I know, from a poc point of view, you are just a racist, middle class suburban white knight actually living comfortably in the West, professing faux concerns on people who actually has to live amongst communists. Because you want to get that dopamine hit from larping as a whiteknightclown 🤡🤡

  • Although China is squatting in a shoal within 200 nautical mile from Philippine coast and bullying Filipino fishermen.

As a child, I used to groan when adults force me to switch the channel to news when I'm watching primetime cartoons. Now as an adult, watching news is one of my comfort activities after work.
