  • I don't remenber actually, maybe if you don't have enough fuel? But I found the biggest problem was that it got destroyed by meteors rather than fuel issues.

  • Mostly going back and forth between planets I found to be annoying. I liked the different worlds (some more than others), but the traveling and time suck made it annoying.

Also the space ship introduced a way to get stuck without save scumming, which the base game didn't have. Or at least not nearly as bad, if you went out into the wilderness you could get a lot of biters on you but it was less of a problem. If you started a journey between two planets and your craft wasn't good enough you basically had to just load a previous save. Afaik there was no "oh dear, this going bad. Let me turn back", which well to be fair is realistic.

  • I didn't like all the back and forth between planets. Just not my play style I guess.

I don't think the expansion is bad, and I support the factorio devs in making a really good game. I just personally didn't get sucked into it.

  • Did not care much for the expansion, just didn't like the game play. Didn't even finish it, so it is almost all base game and mods.

  • Eat it.

  • I actually had a sound issue the other day. Just no sound, how weird. It worked the day before. Checked wpactl, volumes etc, everything was fine and working. Restarted pipewire, still no sound.

Turns out my external mixer lost power because the powet socket was slightly loose.

  • Same here. Started around ham/slink and then just kept using it.

Mostly on servers but for over a year it has been the only booted OS on my desktop (maybe time to recycle the windows m2-drive soon). Sid on desktop is great.

  • Doubt it. Where I am from if you had top grades in school it was a question of "journalist or doctor?" You just couldn't get in without it.. now journalist programs at universities takes pretty much everyone with a pulse. And in some smaller univs the pulse part is optional.

Journalists today are told by their boss what to write, their boss is told by their boss which is told by the owner. And the owner has an agenda, and guess what. It is not to make themselves less rich.

  • To be fair, the arch wiki is very good. I use it quite often despite not using arch. Quite a few things are valid on other distros, or you can get hints on how to fix it, like where to start looking.

  • The legal system "works" like this: if you have enough lawyers that sends enough mail with fancy letter head, you can do whatever the fuck you want.

  • You sound surprised?

  • Sid for life!

  • Still doable, but you can't have external RAM. Hence, lack of RAM is a bigger issue.

  • It is not a lot, but it is not that hard to extend storage. For example with an external SSD/HDD or a NAS.

  • Aschttuaaalllyyy.... .uk allows registrations directly on .uk without the stupid .co.uk, they started that in ~2014.

However .co is more common, also if it was a goverment site it wouldn't use .co (company) anyway and instead .gov.uk.

  • Servers are debian, desktop debian. Why swap when you found the best already? 😁

I guess technically steam deck is not on debian, but I didn't choose it so it doesn't really count.

  • I don't mind the assignments if they aren't too big. If they are, which is quite rare, I just tell them it is too big.

Rather have an assignment than some stupid live coding meeting.

  • Honestly, I look at this and I see a future where everyone runs their own Federated services

I very much doubt it. People in general just don't care, or even worse. They think that it is a good thing as it keeps baddies out (it won't) and it will protect them (it won't).

It seems line very dark times are ahead. Self hosting is good, but it also gives the other side a bright shining beacon to go after. If they know everything about 99% of the population already, they can spend a lot more resources to really get to know the last percent that actively tries to avoid it.

  • Didn't the writers just ignore the source material and thought they could write better? Which made them effectively write fan fiction. And even by those standards, bad fan fiction.
