  • I'm running 2x4090, the 35B fits very comfortable in that.

For large models like the 397B without a ton of money there are several ways, ive seen posts of people using arrays of used 3090s with good results.

The other option is CPU inference although with current RAM prices that is less cost effective.

I was looking at maybe an array of Milk-V JUPITER2 since vllm added riscv support which could be very cost effective.

  • Depending what OP was using before but going from something like GPT5.2 to LLama 3 8B will be a massive difference (Although OP says to use it only for basic tasks so that does offset it)

LLama 3 already being a very old model doesn't help either

I run Qwen3.5-35B-A3B-AWQ-4bit which while leagues ahead of LLama 3 8B still is a very noticeable difference.

This is not to say open source is bad, if one had the resources to run something like Qwen3.5-397B-A17B it would also be up there.

  • Losing a vital plane now when you are at war then it doesn't really matter if it might get replaced sometime far in the future

  • You don't have to be a tankie or a wankie to recognize the fact that a loss ratio of 0% is very good for an aircraft.

If it was a Russian or Chinese aircraft doing this then that would also be a fact.

It's stupid to say that a single aircraft being damaged makes the entire type worthless like many here are saying when the F-35 is the only aircraft flying these missions and come back with only damage to a single plane.

That is not a political statement or approval of the strikes. That's just a statement on the plane.

  • For the all the probably hundreds of sorties flown with a result of zero losses and only a single aircraft being damaged they might aswell be invisible.

  • And if Pakistan didn't send planes then there would be no Kabul bombing.

If the Pakistani Taliban didn't attack Pakisfan there would be no Kabul Bombing.

If the Taliban didn't support the Pakistani Taliban there would be no Kabul bombing.

The west fought the Taliban for 20 years, how long should they have fought on? 30? 50?

  • Either by saying it’s the West’s fault that Pakistan is now bombing Afghanistan because they retreated and the Taliban took power.

Yes but what im asking is why does the west get blamed for Pakistan bombing Afghanistan when:

    1. Pakistan bombs Afghanistan.
    2. They do this because the Pakistani Taliban attacks them.
    3. They can do this because the Taliban supports them
    4. The Taliban can support them because they are in power
    5. The Taliban is in power because the West lost the war.

We are 5 steps away before we reach the West, yet the West is blamed.

Saying the west "gave" back power to the Taliban is saying like Ukraine gave back Crimea to the Russians.

If you truly want to say the west gave power to the Taliban we would need to go further back.

    1. Pakistan bombs Afghanistan.
    2. They do this because the Pakistani Taliban attacks them.
    3. They can do this because the Taliban supports them
    4. The Taliban can support them because they are in power
    5. The Taliban is in power because the West lost the war.
    6. The west invaded Afghanistan because of Osama Bin Laden
    7. Osama Bin Laden was in Afghanistan because the Taliban gave him safe refuge
    8. The Taliban could give him safe refuge because they were in power
    9. The Taliban were in power because the DRA collapsed.
    10. The DRA Collapsed because the Soviets Withdrew support.
    11. The Soviets withdrew support because the Mujahideen was too strong
    12. The Mujahideen was strong because the West supported them.

That's 12 steps away before the West causing this. outside of 5, were the West lost the war if you want to blame them for that.

If any of these things acted different this wouldn't have happend.

Why is it only the West that is mentioned?

  • I'm as much against the US as the next guy but how is it the west's fault that Pakistan is now bombing Afghanistan?

    • The Pakistani Airforce dropping the bombs.
    • The Pakistani Taliban attacking Pakistan.
    • The Taliban allowing the Pakistani Taliban to operate.

You need to go many layers down before it starts being the West's fault.

Either by saying it's the West's fault that Pakistan is now bombing Afghanistan because they retreated and the Taliban took power.

Or by saying it's the West's fault that Pakistan is now bombing Afghanistan because they supported the Mujahideen which eventually led to the collapse of the DRA and the Taliban took power.

Sure there is responsibility, but there are many actors that have way more direct responsibility over this current event before we reach the West.

  • why the industry is still not ready to move away from it.

But why should the industry move away from it?

Am i the only person on earth who doesn't think C++ is a liability and actuallly works faster in it?

At work i have to develop a backend api in TypeScript and it severly lacks in features compared to C++, again maybe its just me but i don't find how one is expected to magically program faster in TypeScript then C++.

Not to mention the idiocy of compiling a static typed language to a dynamic typed language which is then interpreted.

  • I switched from github to forgejo and that was really easy, they have an migrate button.

  • And i officially ended my subscription a long time ago

  • I currently have a PinePhonePro and I'm happy that its the real linux experience in phone form factor, I've tried searching but couldn't find a conclusive awnser.

Is sailfish linux in the sense that i can just change compile target and any linux program will work like on the PPP or is it "linux" in the sense that android is linux?

  • I think everyone has once thought of the idea of taking an sbc and a touchscreen and making a linux phone, cool to actually see one!

  • It's almost like client side anti cheat doesn't work and if proper server side anti cheat is made it wouldn't matter what platform the client is on.
