  • Is that what the "My posts appear in search results" setting does under settings?

  • Why would anyone get their hopes up about a Microsoft product?

  • I don't have data to back this up but I feel like voles are just as important as beavers are for their local environment. They just do it at a smaller scale.

  • Ohh kinky

  • More like 3 months now.

  • It says one of the main reasons the city is sinking is ground water extraction. Is there any effort to stop this to prevent further sinking? Can they bring in water from elsewhere?

  • Tech companies don't have to be responsible.

  • I can't hear any of these because all nearby police radio is encrypted.

  • There were quite a few electric cars, they started in the late 1800s made by multiple companies. Shit they even had electric trains.

  • The open source insulin project comes to mind. It's be nice if there were more projects like that.

  • That was one of the most typed out joke explanations I've ever seen online, I salute your patience.

  • I like the deepl addon in Firefox. While it won't do whole page translations I find it more accurate. Google translate is ok. Firefox translate is hit or miss.

  • Had a doc that was chronically late. One day he shows up after the nurse had us sit in the room for about 40 mins and during the appointment all this water comes out of his nose. Said he likes to go for a swim during his lunch break.

  • Watching the US build infrastructure projects is pain. A large part of the problem is the US as a whole is unwilling to stop themselves from reinventing the wheel. If a company, municipality, another department, other coworker, etc has completed a similar project or has been doing something similar for decades they will refuse to incorporate and learn some of those techniques. Instead they build everything from scratch.

  • Its been like this my entire life. When I was in high school in the 90s one of my teachers said the greatest battle your generation will fight will be for privacy. Little did they know there would be no fight. The general public doesn't seem interested in caring about things and voting with their wallet. Now we've reached this point where the game is up and companies have realized the masses will buy their products because people perceive that they "need" them and can't do without which gives them free reign to do whatever they want.

  • Full article requires login. Just the bit I read is incredibly fucked up.

  • Now go watch a new hope. Completely changed the film for me.

  • There has been a concerted effort to isolate Canada and the US from each other in recent years. Also within Canada itself the rise of US style individualism has been depressing to see. Its wild how much social media has been weaponized by most nation states to use against others.
