it was supposed to be fixed with iOS 18. in fact apple intelligence was the whole selling point for the iphone 16 range.
But it all got delayed and now were just stuck with the buggy mess of iOS 18 and the stupidity of siri whilst apple still kick it around between internal product teams.
That they charge 1300 bucks for the base iphone these days is insanity ontop of all this mess.

in vic power prices are pretty sane still. Between solar and the government rebate at the moment I'm hardly paying for anything in summer. Winter is a different story of course, but battery prices at the minute are too high to really justify a reduction for just 6 months of the year.
