  • My phone's detection app says Close to You by Dayglow. I'm on a plane waiting to takeoff. The song is fine, I guess.

  • AI architect prompt: design me a mosque in the style of a fast-food restaurant.

From the inspiration photo cited in the article to the actual, what a miss.

  • Their first and only post too. They created an account to post something they don't understand about a country they don't live in. Carry on, nothing to see here.

  • Tron. It ends with tossing out the one before and letting Jared Leto get his stink all over it.

Marvel Cinematic Universe should have stopped sometime before Phase 4 (Eternals, Black Widow, Wakanda Forever, Multiverse of Madness).

The Matrix should have ended at 1.

The Jason Bourne movies should have ended when Jason Bourne's story was concluded, without extending it to Aaron Cross's story, played by Jeremy Renner.

  • I use Drip for basic cycle tracking. I don't use it for fertile phase tracking so no comment there.

For cycle tracking, it does what it needs to do. It's easy enough to setup and completely forget what tracker/spyware I used to use. Heck, I think it was Flo I used to use.

And f-droid or another alternative app stores not mandatory, Drip is on the Google Play store at least. Not sure about Apple.

  • Woof. I had a neighbor like this at the last place I lived. One series of signs pre-2024 election was how his son couldn't get a job or a wife because of the "immigrants stealing his jobs". Ouch, how would you like your parents posting signs on the street about how you can't get a job or laid. Multiple signs across the yard and ofc a flagpole with the Thin Blue Line variant flying.

  • Fire offenders, fire leaders that cover for them, and don't hide the reason from employees that remain. Make examples of them succinctly and professionally.

We had a known offender for years, the whisper campaign was strong. He was finally encouraged to leave following "performance issues". All that did was signal to remaining offenders that if they do a good enough job keeping it quiet, they won't even be fired if they're caught, just allowed to exit quietly. And knowing that guy and some of the men he worked for, they probably gave him recommendations for his next job.

  • Keep only within specific, narrow size parameters. I want the right size boxes because I move frequently; not so small as to be inefficient, not so large they will be back-crushing when full. The rest are broken down and send to the recycling bin.

  • Please don't tell your boss about your mental health problems. Nothing good will come of it.

I'm a boss and try to minimize my shittiness. I want my team members to take PTO for mental issues or whatever else they need but I do not want to know the details. That is for their own protection. If they need medical accomodations they should go through the formal channels, getting it properly documented so they have full legal protections. Anything other than that, sharing their personal medical information with me or anyone else at this Mega CorpTM is a bad idea for them. (US-based, think about your own country's protections before considering this advice).

Your boss sounds like an incompetent asshole. Even with a empathetic human boss though, don't tell them the details of your personal issues.

  • 40% tomato meter, 96% popcorn.

Anyone who uses RT still, is that 96% number real or AI/bots/pay-for-reviews?

If real, the number surprises me. Maybe it's a bit self-filtering, with audiences primarily made up of Michael fans already predisposed to rate it highly so long as it's not too controversial.

  • My high school uniform was khakis and a navy blue or forest green polo shirt. Half the men I work with wear that every day. Please be more specific.

  • Yep. I tend to do K-12 STEM outreach stuff. The local schools and scout troops know me and reach out for help occasionally.

I've been thinking about doing some reffing for a high school sports club. It's a less-popular sport, there aren't a ton of adults who've played enough to be decent refs and even fewer women. Just not sure I have the time this season to get match fit and my credentials updated.

  • They weren't already?

  • Yes. "Hard" sciences aren't as perfectly objective like TV would have one believe. Plenty of hard sciences are affected by the replication crisis, like geology and astronomy where one can't set up controlled experiments, same as soft sciences. All of them should strive to develop the best model, break the model, improve the model, repeat.

  • I have a default grey Camry. I lose it in the parking lot all the time and feel kinship whenever I run across someone else also looking for their generic, vanilla car.

  • Working engineer with a bachelor's and a master's degree 👋. I credit an older sister who got into the world first who gave warning to us younger ones and the good sense to listen to her advice. I can clock a homeschooler a mile out but the well educated, well socialized ones have put in a lot of effort to get there and I won't out them if they don't want to be. The well-adjusted ones don't talk about it much, same as a public school educated person wouldn't bring up their grade school experience frequently.

  • Did Trump actually post it? Is that supposed to be Epstein? I'm skeptical the president would post that (unless his dementia was affecting his recognition).

  • Good meme, I would just move the flags down to chest area so the derp face is still visible for the country that doesn't know what's going on.
