  • The track pads are for sure unique and cool. The lack of proper adjustable short-throw triggers and the non-mechanical buttons will feel bad to what I am used to. I may still get one for the reason you point out though, I could play Age of Empires with it and further embrace my casual nature.

  • There are so many videos of people going through insane quantities of controllers. I would say to take each with a grain of salt though, as a lot of preference comes in. For me, I wanted mechanical buttons + triggers, buttons on the back, and an option to switch to short triggers that felt better than a lot of the ones where a feeble piece of plastic seems to just slide in the way. I tried quite a few, gave some to friends, and ended up championing the GameSir Cyclone 2. It is not perfect, but it works with my Linux setup and feels great with all the clickyness everywhere. My gripe is how the thing looks: it isn't a pretty controller in my opinion. I think I got mine for around $50 with the dock included. I think standard is $50 without dock and $10 more for with the dock.

I do have my eyes on some other options though. Mostly because the start and select buttons are in a stupid spot on the Cyclone 2. Nothing has swayed me away from it yet though, and that has only been a problem in games where I push those very very frequently (I have no navigation skills and open my maps very often).

  • I appreciate the enthusiasm but the controller market offers way more than you think. There are fantastic controllers with great hardware and software for less than a standard Xbox controller. I went deep after two Xbox controllers failed fairly quickly and I expect great things from any controller that is $100. I’ve gotten used to mechanical switches, strong layouts, software and software-free options with onboard memory, and so on.

  • I'm still relatively new to Proton, but I thought I read early on that they would still have to comply with legal requests. I believed that their system was mostly in the realm of two secure accounts being able to hide the messages themselves. I use a card, so I am tied to my account. Does using whatever coin they take (if any) help with this? I remember reading they wanted to open more doors to alternate payment methods. I think it was to help privacy but also in large part so that they could still collect money if they ever get slapped down by other processors for making someone big mad for their privacy setup.

EDIT: I thought I had replied to something like this before. Found it. https://a.lemmy.world/lemmy.world/post/15148279 It seems to me that some just overestimate what the service is.

  • This connects with my memory. I recall spending all my happy time at sea for hours upon hours. Now that you mention it, I do remember a silly follow mission at sea.

I had not considered the obvious micros they will surely add.

I'm the wrong person though to measure a good AC game 🏴‍☠️. I could not get into the first one and I know a lot of people have a lot of love for it. Thank you for taking the time to answer.

  • Can I ask why? I'm far removed from a lot of what's going on. Black Flag was the only AC game I played through. Not the I didn't try some of the earlier ones.

Is it general Ubisoft stuff or the game in particular?

  • This looks fun (and free). Westwood is one of those studios I think of and miss at least once a year. NoX remains an underrated gem.

  • I've been using exclusively Linux for about two years now.

I only ever use the terminal when I need to fix something, usually by searching for a fix and trying it out. I know more about its use now but just enough to hurt myself.

I think it gives me strong UI opinions though. What works better for me. There is still a lot of choice in that.

  • If it is ranked on fun, then yeah Stronghold Crusader deserves to be there. If it is for being effective? Maybe not. I did a naughty thing when a friend played with me the first time. He was a hardcore turtler, and I knew that. I must have hired a bazillion ninjas by the time he told me he felt his base was impenetrable. Sad to say I never got to use the tunnelers or anything else I had.

    Wonderful game.

  • I think there are more interesting parts of the read.

“My producer Victor Hadida told me when we finished the film that it cost $23 million,” Gans says. “We had 50 days of shooting, it has 67 sets, so it’s quite huge. But I spent one year just designing everything, storyboarding everything, making tons of artwork. When I came on the pre-production, I was very well prepared. Sometimes, what was difficult was to make people who are not players understand why some elements were so important. Sometimes I had to fight because the fans would be pleased. When I’m doing a film, I’m obsessed by the detail, so that’s the fuel of my work as a director.”

  • Cross-progression will certainly be a nice one. I haven't played console, but it stacks on top of them adding addon support a little while back. I wonder if there will be a way to unify those addon-specific settings and saved info.

  • Wololo?

  • I REALLY wanted to see what they were working on. It would be interesting just to talk to him and his team. ESO was built on the Hero engine and I think SWTOR is the only other MMO to use it. I've always wondered how much that inspired them to work on their own engine for Blackbird.

Oh and I love that they independent team calls themselves Sackbird Studios.

  • I've looked at Vintage Story a few times but I never bite with how difficult everything seems. Even tuned, it seems I would not be able to escape great time needed to do things.

I don't play as much and so I think I would risk being disgruntled with limited progress. It's a game I respect a lot though.

    1. In your mind, would it lose meaning if you broke a sign to relocate it?
    2. Have you ever considered using sign types other than oak?
    3. What's your favorite activity right now in Minecraft?
  • I'm excited. I never did anything Hytale related, but I've longed for a Minecraft alternative.

  • Music CDs let me get unique monsters in Monster Rancher on the PS1. BR has yet to come close. There is still growth.

  • It is a nice quick game to keep around and it's such a one-size-for-all theme that it makes the table.
