  • Okay, that was a pretty cool read! I had no idea these things existed. Thanks, I didn't expect to learn anything cool in a thread on Pete Hegzeth's poor hygiene.

  • I kind fo agree and kind of don't. I agree in that parents should take accountability for their children. That said, social media has been shown to be addictive and kids are frequently ahead of their parents technologically. One thing that could help is an education campaign that teaches parents how to effectively monitor their kid's online activity. Parents need some help figuring out what tools to use and how to use them I think.

  • Climate scientists have been warning about this for at least a decade. They're just not being heeded.

  • I like those too, but they're a different thing IMO.

  • The problem with that is, if it isn't required to go to food, it often won't. That doesn't just impact the parents. It also impacts the kids.

  • I still buy Tostitos, but only when they are run their "Buy 4 or More for $1.99 Each" sale or something similar. They're stupidly expensive otherwise.

  • So, the Democrats push their member to resign while the Republicans allow theirs to hold on until it won't hurt their vote margin. If the dems hadn't lost one, the repubs would have let him keep hanging on.

  • Inflation from 1989 to now would make this cost $2.37. So, even accounting for inflation, the price has doubled.

  • What do you think a subscription is? Or do you really think people are going to go back to buying physical papers?

  • Cool, thanks! That's some crazy high ISO.

  • Thanks for the info, that's awesome! Based on the quality of the image, I'd guess this was a specialized camera designed to have a broader range of sensitivity. Do you know if that's right or did they just use a nice DSLR?

Also, the first image has been corrected for rayleigh scattering, either algorithmically or artistically. The second image does not appear to have been corrected. It looks similar to what we get from geostationary satellites prior to performing rayleigh scattering correction.

  • They didn't lose patience with him like eight years ago? These people must have the patience of saints.

  • Air and water move, especially when heated.

  • I think it says somthing that in the last general election, this seat went republican 59.5% to 40.5%.

  • Last time around this seat went republican 59.5% to 40.5%.

  • You know, what I said was largely right but reading a few articles about the changes makes it apparent that your interpretation is also right.

In Dec. 2025, Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent nixxed some of the quarter designs that were approved by then-Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen during the Biden Administration for focusing “on DEI and Critical Race Theory policies.” One of the coins featured a line of people with arms linked, in between the words “We shall overcome.”

At the time, U.S. Treasurer Brandon Beach said the coinage design is supposed to “celebrate American history and the founding of our great nation,” but that imagery was scrapped because “the Biden Administration and Secretary Yellen remained focused on DEI and Critical Race Theory policies.”

“The Trump Administration is dedicated to fostering prosperity and patriotism. We have no doubt these new designs will be wildly popular with the American people

  • I've seen others suggest that this is commemorative of the revolutionary war. This year is the 250th anniversary of the United States. The lack of an olive leaf was said to signify our unwillingness to compromise with England.
