    Leftists cannot be anti-vegan. I've brought up how dumb LW was when they removed their vegan mods. That was also done without a discussion and their userbase's reaction was to side with their admin who admitted they were in the wrong.

  • I was briefly on kbin so I do remember the bickering over every comment, which I hated. I wanted to defederate lemvotes since that also brought more bickering to lemmy, plus I'm not a fan of the idea. As an admin, I can easily see who downvoted me, even find who consistently downvotes me, but it doesn't really personally help me. There was so much drama with lemvotes and calling out people all the time, I think it is supposed to discourage downvoting by making people aware they are under survelliance. I poked through Mbin and could only see upvotes (boosts), not downvotes (reduces). I do wish for a way to disable downvotes on the individual community level in lemmy, the way Piefed does, then our community wouldn't need lemvotes anymore (hopefully). The votes can be retrieved through the API, but the average user just browses without it.

    This did not happen, that user was from a different instance seen here:

    If you read the YPTB post, it mentioned 3 users. One user, luminous, was an AN admin, he banned Kaplan from an anarchy meme community (one he was a mod of, he was not banned from the entire AN instance as shown from Kaplan's modlog screenshot) for zionism and this was taken as a death threat for some reason because luminous had added the murder zionists to his nick. This alone caused the defederation from AN (again, this was the proof Kaplan showed for why he defederated). While Kaplan could have talked to literally anyone on the team, it was decided to defederate and others were encouraged to defederate over death threats from 'hostile admins'... that did not happen.

    This drama was incredibly dumb, in that it could have been resolved with a chat, and the takeaway is not that anyone should agree with the LW team's actions (lmao even), but that you should try talking before pushing the button. Luminous stepped down as admin days ago btw but you are only being told now that there was even a defederation and updated with refederation shortly after.

  • The FHF own lemmy.world and piefed.world. One user called the FHF names (shitlib, zionazi) in a community on a non-LW instance and then was banned from all of LW for doing so. This user is a dbzer0 admin.

    Another user had the 'murder zionists' nickname and was an AN admin. This AN admin banned a single LW admin for zionism, and the LW admins were so mad that they defederated from AN without talking, made censures against the AN instance, and encouraged other instances to also defederate AN by claiming the act of a single ban of an LW admin was equal to a death threat. All without talking. Said user stepped down as admin from AN and things are very tense since LW thinks their behavior is acceptable. The LW admins could have banned the previous AN admin (or talked about it), but they defederated the AN instance instead, an instance with multiple admins and many users.

    Are the .world admins zionists?

    They are against genocide (so they say). It's not uncommon to cause a stir on LW by expressing a want for the state of Israel and their IDF to dissolve.

  • If someone is annoying/frustrating and trolling you, then they are also causing those same disturbances to others such as your users. It is why I ban trolls that are negatively affecting others and do not align with dbzer0. Granted, most of my bans are bots. Grail was annoying for sure and I stopped replying to this user because I didn't want to get banned after seeing others mixing up the capitals. Yes, I struggled at first before realizing blahaj was right about this.

    Once Grail started comparing veganism with AI, I felt the troll became more obvious, too obvious. The suffering and deaths of real animals is not comparable to so called 'AI slavery'. This 'AI' is just a LLM spitting random auto-complete with no consciousness. I don't ask that our users become vegan, but to troll vegans and parrot antiveganism is just trolling leftists for no real reason (the hex was based yet again). I don't lose sleep over banning these trolls, YDM imo.

    I'm not sure if drag is Grail, I know drone rights was also PM_ME_FAT_ENBIES, but I could not tell for certain that Grail is drone rights (although they shared similarities for sure just like the other 2 you also listed). I also remember MindTraveler, what a fun (/s) person who was always angrily telling off people that Grail didn't like.

    Grail is neurodivergent (trans and NPD afaik), so we should be willing to make some accommodations for Their behaviour

  • The lounge just has things like a sofa, tv, a red light treatment thing, automatic massage table/chairs, stuff like that. It is completely avoidable. I'm a dummy who signed up for it for the automatic massage stuff, and it was usually broken/malfunctioning when I used it >.<

  • When I called they said I had to cancel by sending a letter.

    I went through something similar while trying to cancel, only instead of a vacation it was somewhere I completely moved to that no longer had planet fitness. Going back and forward with the gym via phone and then letters went nowhere. I finally put a stop on my debit card to end things. I heard they go after people in court or collections at that point, but I was never contacted again about it.

  • It has been a hot minute for me, but I think the lower $10/month gave you access to everything but their stupid lounge reserved for the higher $20/month tier. You could cancel the $10 anytime but not the $20 tier without paying an extra buyout fee. Also looks like it was increased from $10 to $15 in 2024.

    I moved to a place without planet fitness and it was hell cancelling the higher tier since they insisted you couldn't cancel over the internet or phone, only via certified mail, and even then they kept losing my letter. The gyms around me start at $40/month so I do not go to the gym anymore.

    It was not clear... not to me and others too it seems. I quoted your removed comment because I was so confused. But I think we've already gone over that misunderstanding. Your modlog is public, and is usually what this community looks at, but I get the feeling it has reopened that wound, for that I am sorry. I have said things wrong as well and take the L from them, and learn from them. We are not perfect. Your explanations here were much better, thank you for explaining. I try not to be intentionally hurtful, but even I fail at that.

  • Lemmy didn't have much content at first so you would run out of things to read after a while. It felt friendly at first, but certain topics still set off people at lemmy to the point I thought about leaving. Then lemmy seemed to improve and I could talk about those topics again, but now there are more trolls (even ones that seem to follow you around since they troll each post or comment talking about something) and spam bots that weren't there before. I think a lot of conflict on forums like this has to do with miscommunication, but sometimes people are just mean and there isn't a fix.

  • In that case, you completely fumbled your comments (it does sound transphobic). But as I said, you can improve from this. Saying what you said instead that you think gender should not be considered a binary between men or women, and cutting out the rest, would be an improvement and open dialogue.

    Edit: just to be clear, I am not calling you a transphobe. I think there was a miscommunication with your removed comment and it is why I tried to clear that up.

    i feel like “non gendered” or something is more appropriate than “non binary” and people just latch onto the term because “binary” sounds all futuristic and information age. and before someone explains binary: “there are 10 kinds of people, those who understand binary and those who don’t” i mean, people are free to associate however they want, it just feels a little forced to me.

  • My only guess is that about a month before I got banned for saying, (and I am sorry and I really am not trying to hurt anyone and I'm not invalidating anyone's existence)Is that "nonbinary" is not the most accurate term for people because it, seems to me, to imply that gender is binary. The offensive part is because I think it's popular because the concept of "binary" is popular... (I'm a programmer, I love binary).It's not like, a big deal to me or anything, I just think there's a better term out there or waiting to be made. non-gendered or something makes more sense but doesn't sound as cool...I stated my opinion indelicatly and I get why my post was removed... But not being called transphobic or banned from that com for life because I questioned the temporary ban, and then a month later 20 more comms like I'm a Nazi just trying to harass people or something.

    I read your removed comment on your modlog and it seems the community did not want you to start a debate and flame war about gender identities. I can understand since nonbinary is not a "futuristic" sounding name that they chose to sound "cool", they are people who are not men or women, but very much do have genders. The nonbinary umbrella is quite large and full of genders. Your comment seemed like you only see man and women as valid genders while nonbinary are seen as nongendered to you, do you see how that comes across? Nonbinary people do have genders, that is why nongendered does not fit at all. They should be the ones to choose their name. From what you said about questioning the ban, it may have been beneficial to listen to them. No matter how close you are to the trans community, you can still make mistakes and say transphobic things. Even women themselves can be misogynistic. But hopefully you can learn from this and improve, we can all improve. I only brought this up as it seems to be relevant to the ban from this post.

    Edit: forgot to mention agender matches the term you want to use, nongendered. Nonbinary is not necessarily agender.
