  • Slightly misleading title. He failed at renaming Paypal to X last time. So this time he was technically successful in what failed last time.

  • I personally am much more optimistic about this. There exists something called “Green Premium” which is the extra price we consumers need to pay right now to reduce our emissions. Being from India, I can’t really afford some of those Green Premium and neither can I blame people around me getting Air Conditioning or improving their living standards by getting a car in such hot and humid conditions.

My realistic hope is that the Green Premium will come down enough or even be on par with the regular price eventually where it won’t even make economic sense to have such a huge carbon footprint. I see efforts towards this end and I’m confident we’ll pull through.

That said, I also think some of the big cities in places like India will be unfortunately uninhabitable by the time we get there (around 2050)

  • Why won’t EVs save us?

  • Not all meat is bad right? My understanding is that cattle farming is harmful to the environment because cows fart methane

  • I dunno mate. Does identifying with a side lay out your viewpoints on every issue? I live in a communist-ruled state in India and I know of communists who don't agree with the trans ideology. Due to religion and stuff, we also have far-right people here that consider trans people as gods.

  • I think we’re looking at this wrong. “Lemmy” as it is won’t get popular. It’s an underlying platform to create an internet forum. Individual instances are what may get popular

You’re not likely to read “cocksucker619 on lemmy said so and so” in a news article. Whereas “dickrider69 on an internet forum called dickriders.world said so and so” is a more likely proposition

  • Thank you

  • Where the fuck does he get these ideas? Is this a popular opinion?

  • I don’t know what the proper term is. I’m sorry. Not trying to be rude or offensive. English isn’t my first language either

  • Kindly let me know what the term is

  • I'm genuinely curious. Would you consider someone like Mulan trans? I'm from India and we have mythological stories of intersex and gods magically transforming to the opposite gender. None technically trans

  • are we stretching the definitions here a little bit? Would we call Mulan trans?

  • I feel that with the advent of social media and the freedom to read same news incident from multiple sources in a matter of minutes, the news sources are forced to pick a side. There's more activism and less journalism.

There used to be 1-2 activist newspapers, but now even the big ones have to choose sides

  • Intersex yes. I thought trans was a relatively new (20th century, maybe 1930s) thing. What is the earliest recorded transition?

  • didn't most books look the same back then?

  • But when it doesn't tell you it definitely isn't

  • How expensive is it where you are? I’m not in the west and cinema costs me USD 5-10. Which means I can easily watch one or two every week

  • If you’re on iOS, NetNewsWire is absolutely amazing. It’s very native, fast and FOSS!

  • How would you deal with yourself after you fuck yourself?!

Do you want a really creepy twin with much less resources than you to walk around the world? Would you wanna kill that person? No one would notice surely.

Similar matter is dealt with in the book Dark Matter.
