  • I got pretty bad food poisoning once from tomato sauce that had been in the fridge for a bit over a week (I think it was in an open carton though). Definitely be careful. I personally wouldn't store it longer than 2-3 days.

Achte wirklich sehr auf meine Ernährung, aber wenn ich zB vor 2 Pflanzenmilchen stehen und eine hat A und die andere C, nehme ich A ohne mir jetzt die Nährwerttabelle im Detail anzuschauen. Da würde ja auch nichts anderes bei rumkommen als "joa, die A is halt n bisschen besser, weil zB weniger Kalorien, mehr Protein, weniger gesättigte Fettsäuren, etc". Der Nutriscore nimmt mir in dem Fall halt die Arbeit ab.

  • Es muss halt nicht mal ne wirkliche Kategorie sein. Er macht immer dann Sinn, wenn für dich in Frage kommt, die beiden Lebensmittel gegeneinander auszutauschen. Pommes mit Nutella vergleichen macht meistens keinen Sinn, weil die völlig unterschiedlich gegessen werden. Aber wenn du statt der Pommes vielleicht eine Gemüsemischung oder ein Fertiggericht, eine Pizza o.ä. essen würdest, dann macht es absolut Sinn, diese Lebensmittel miteinander zu vergleichen, auch wenn es wie verschiedene "Kategorien" wirkt.

  • Es gibt für fast alles nur eine Nutriscore-Kategorie. Dieser weitverbreitete Glaube, es gäbe für jede Kategorie eine eigene Skala, ist Unsinn. Ausnahmen sind nur Getränke, Käse und Öle. Alles andere wird komplett gleich gewichtet, es macht nur halt meistens inhaltlich nicht viel Sinn, Nutella mit Pommes zu vergleichen, weil man völlig andere Mengen davon isst. Nutella mit so ungefähr allem anderen zu vergleichen, was du stattdessen essen könntest, macht aber Sinn.

  • My workplace still uses Skype for business and I tell you I would pay for them to switch to Teams. It's absolutely terrible. You don't even get a message log, messages just disappear after you close the chat window. You can't set custom backgrounds in video calls so your background is always visible. In video calls with shared screens you can only see 1 person's video, not more. And I could go on and on....

  • Ich nutze seit 1-2 Jahren einen Dreame L10s Ultra mit dem hier schon mehrfach erwähnten Valetudo und bin höchst zufrieden. Er läuft fast jeden Tag nach Zeitplan, manchmal wischt er nur die Küche, 2x die Woche wird die ganze Wohnung gesaugt. Wir müssen seitdem fast nicht mehr manuell saugen und hängen bleibt er dank der KI Kamera (die dank Valetudo nichts nach China sendet) auch quasi nie (nur Schnürsenkel werden ihm hin und wieder noch zum Verhängnis).

    Kostenpunkt war damals so 500€.

  • Apples have loads of fiber (especially pectin) which makes you feel full and actually take in fewer calories of what you're digesting. Apples IN MODERATION do not make you fat. If you eat 10 apples a day on top of your normal food, yes, they will make you fat. They will not make you fat if you eat them when you feel snackish and would otherwise eat a cereal bar or worse. Even if you eat nothing instead and decide to stay hungry, I think studies show that during your next meal you will overeat more calories than the fruit would have had, if you had eaten it as a snack. I can try to find the source if you're interested.

  • Fruit have sugar but not eating fruit for that reason is one of the worst mistakes I used to make. Fruit are full of good things your body needs, including fiber, vitamins, antioxidants. It's the perfect sweet snack. Eat fruit. It will make you eat less of the stuff that will actually make you fat.

  • I would like to stress the eating better part. In the past, I've made the mistake of looking only at calories. I never chose the whole grain option because it had more calories. Weight loss was hard and I was constantly hungry. Now I stopped eating at the canteen for lunch and started cooking my own stuff instead with lots of whole grain pasta, whole grain rice, potatoes, lots and lots of vegetables, legumes and plant based protein like tofu and tempeh. For a sweet snack I eat fruit. Lost 9kg in 5 months and it didn't even feel really hard, honestly. Cooking takes a lot of time though, but it's so much easier than being hungry all the time.

  • Home Assistant! I got a cheap refurbished mini PC for 60 bucks and a zigbee stick for 12 or so, been running HA for a year now, it works very well and pairs perfectly with the IKEA zigbee stuff. I have it read the alarm from my phone and turn on radio on a wifi speaker and smart lights at that time. Kitchen light is now automatic with a little motion sensor and ESP I got from AliExpress for a few bucks. Everything is completely local, no internet access. It's great!
