  • It is really neat looking! I knew something existed, as I learned about the controlled movement from learning about owls' hearing and also how the ones with plumicorns (the "horns") moved them around like this tit's crest, but I had never looked for a photo before, so this was a lot of fun for me too.

  • Feathers are surprisingly fascinating. There are many different types to perform different functions. Their movement helps them hide, stay warm, flirt, hear, communicate, and I'm sure I'm forgetting things.

  • She was one of my favorite parts of Moon Knight.

  • They have a pretty extensive diet like most owls. I would feed each of our pair a mouse that was around 28g. That's around 15% of body weight. (150-200g)

A quick check says wild ones will up it to around 25% in winter for those precious calories.

I guess they have more attitude than appetite. 😁

  • I like those types of traditions 😄

  • Oh that is cool! It makes stars and trippy fan blade patterns. It's neat you can share the link like that to share the patterns too.

It's like a kaleidoscope that also works for the ears. 😁

  • That was fun! 😁

Perfect 4th with linear velocity starts to cascade before they all reconverge with a big bleep. That was my favorite.

  • Nice! People seem to have strong feelings about owls around the world, so I find them popping up everywhere now that I've become so accustomed to looking for them. I'm constantly finding art and merch that features those cute little guys.

  • Love the stout design and your color choices as well. You do such a great job on these! 🥰

  • I believe this is the one.

  • That ring of green around his iris is pretty!

  • He just needs a lozenge. 😄

  • Not the most glamorous role, but it keeps food on the table! 🍽️🐀

  • The white really stands out in certain shots and looks amazing. They've got some of the best spots, front and back, of any owl.

I've got a Tasmanian Masked Owl I'll share this week. It's the largest of all the barn owls, and it is a few shades of rich brown instead of white. The details in the face are beautiful, so be sure to check back!
