  • All young people? Come on!

  • The NSW govt supports parts (let me emphasise 'parts') of a community which sends money to help a country overseas whose army is involved in a hateful, violent genocide and that is perfectly ok but 'rhetoric', peaceful rhetoric at that, is wrong. This is sick.

  • The new changes lock in youth rates for those aged eighteen and under. The percentage of the adult wage that eighteen-, nineteen-, and twenty-year-olds receive will increase each year. These rates will reach parity with the adult rates in 2029, 2028, and 2027, respectively. The catch, however, is that these increases and eventual parity only apply to young people who have worked at the same employer for more than six months. This caveat is ripe for exploitation.

I did not know about the caveat. Yes, young people will be further exploited. This is so wrong.

  • I am curious about the down vote and the reasons. I don't go out of my way to use AI at all and I really resent that many people are going to lose jobs because of its use but if a technology can help our struggling wildlife then I welcome it. And no, I'm not AI.

  • Veeeery budget version of Trump's jet gift from Qatar but the principle is pretty much the same.

  • Welfare advocacy organisations are asking for an increase in income support because unemployment is expected to rise as well the cost of just about everything else. We've always got money for military weaponry (for Australia's protection) but not so the people can eat and have a roof over their heads? Feeding and housing the population is the first priority I'd have thought, of any government particularly in a rich country like ours. • It's important to be informed about what is happening so that we can hold our politicians accountable in advance and ask them "What are you going to do about this? How are you going to help the most vulnerable? When are you going to take such measures?

  • I think they'd be bits which would be applicable and other bits not. But it might help people think about the various aspects and how it might be adpated to where they live.

  • Great article. All of us who can should be looking at ways of growing food by ourselves or with others and organising in our communities. The food situation is not going to improve seeing what is happening supply and climate wise. We must ask our state governments, councils and other local authorities and organisations to support, prepare and set up community gardens and similar systems so that at least the most vulnerable (which will increase) have access to fresh food they can afford. We should no longer just see this as niche practice. We are lucky in Australia we still have quite a lot of open space available which we should use for habitat for native species and to grow food.

  • But we might learn something from them. They would have nothing against cunts as they value the giving of birth to their calves. They probably see (most of) us more as deranged, destructive aliens.

  • I hope we can do what is sane and ethical, not just for these tiny marsupials but for the habitats which support them and many other species and which we continue to degrade and destroy. The right thing is for more of us to be active in letting our political representatives know that Australia's ecosystems mean something, including our own survival and not just that of 'critters'.

  • Thank you for that.
