This should be top comment, the researchers did such a good job to make sure anyone with even the slightest reading comprehension would realise this is parody.
I admire your optimism but you severely overestimate the power of stupidity.
For a research project, I had to convert 20+ projects from a dataset into a new format. The old format was simply a single script for each project that builds it. But I needed a format with a Docker file and a script. It would've taken me around a week to do all that one by one.
I got Claude to do it in 2 hours.
I know people hate AI in this community, but to say it doesn't do anything good or to insult all people who use it is just pure negativity.
The best part was Cooper Norris trying to convince someone that solar power isn't worth it in Texas because you need sunny days. In Texas, where theres less than 70 days of rain in a year!
My goto response when someone says "I have nothing to hide" is to ask them to hand me their phone unlocked so that I can go through their messages, pictures and financial stuff.
This usually does the trick of reminding them that you do have things to hide.
I saw this number on another post about the same article. And the original math was something like 10 million is 1% of a billion. And Bezos is worth ~250 billion.
So 10 million would be 1/250 of 1% of his wealth.
And i did the math to see what that would amount to for a normal person.
If you have $100k in total (savings, investing, properties etc), 1% would be $1000.
And 1/250 of that is $4.
So if Bezos was someone who had around $100k in total, the amount he was asked to pay to clean up the entire towns shit is $4.
Sounds about right.
