  • You should pay half for streaming services.

  • Unfortunately, it's then altered and likely not valid anymore. That said, maybe a little black smudge under his nose will not go amiss.

  • Weird. I guess I might have not noticed the possible route. I do heavily favor taking railed transit, so normally I would have found the tram if it was available.

It's even worse than I thought. I was there in 2017 and the tram was definitely open to the airport May 31, 2014! What was I not seeing?!?

I guess I'll have to come back and visit again to make up for it. I've been to Scotland & Edinburgh a few times and it's always worth the visit. I live in Germany now, so I should be hopping over at some point for a quick trip when I can find the time.

  • Nice! The last time I was there was 2016 (I think)? I remember seeing just a bit of the tram on Princes, but had to bus out to the airport still.

  • That's great to hear! Congratulations on having a city leading to a better future. Those investments take time and political willpower, but they're very worth it.

  • Nice. Hasn't Edinburgh been building trams? There's one to the airport now, isn't there? They need to get up to digging and make a local Tube network. The city has plenty of rock to bore through.

  • The Wien public transit network is stellar. I don't know much about the rest of the country, other than ÖBB is inexpensive, on time, and clean (DB needs to take notes). Oh, and Salzburg needs some transit build out. The busses won't scale forever there.

  • Woohoo! One of the great secrets for public transit is to keep building. If you stop, you lose the people and skills to do a good job building. When a city just keeps going, it builds internal skills and knowledge on running the projects so they get cheaper, faster, and hit fewer problems.

  • One of my kids said thank you for some work I did to help them.

It's hard being a parent. Even a little gratitude can go a long way.

  • ... And improvements to public transit also increased for long term security? Right?

  • It's a surprisingly effective equation. It basically works for everyone 14+, with just a little "not so sure" zone when you're 20 and they're 17. After that, it gets back on track.

  • Can German be any less confusing, please?

We have started into various forms of past tense sentence structure and the rules... Oh the rules.

Add in how written German is different in places then spoken...

    I'll make it, I know I can.

Still reading B1 books. Classes are helping a ton on structure and rules. Listening is getting better.

I've managed several good interactions in stores, shops, and museums entirely in German. Many people are very understanding when I ask to at least try since I'm learning.

Wir wohnen in Deutschland. Ich muss Deutsch sprechen!

  • I know. It comes in about 300 variations from the 50 cafes within a 5 minute walk from my apartment.

  • Those cards are "Give up, lie, steal, cheat, neoptism, insider trade, pedophile protection, and narcissist nap time". Conservatives LOVE them for it because it lets them be racist and bigoted in public.

  • I'm not a Torontonian and I still want that for the city. It looks wonderful.

My city needs to keep building our own transit system. It's one of the best in the world, but it hasn't had the investment to match the continued city growth, either in sq km or densification.

  • That's the exact reason I'm holding onto my (not so great) job in Germany. Going back to the US is incredibly unpalatable. I LOVE living in a modern city where I can actually walk to errands. It's wonderful.

  • Is that monstrosity over 10 lanes wide? I think it's closer to 18 in actual width. That could be as wide as 63 meters (206 ft). Insanity.

Anything but building some trains and putting buildings closer together.. We'd sacrifice anything and everything on the altar of cars.to appease the rich and the selfish.

  • But roundabout require people to think and interact with the traffic! We want to drive fast, but stupid.

  • I'm waiting on the last birth certificate we need for our application. Let's go Saskatchewan administrators! Find that old birth record please, we know it's in there somewhere.
