  • As others have said, it depends on the industry. I've worked in government in DC and most people there wore suits/nice attire. There was also the one agent I saw with his service pistol tucked into his dress belt 🤦

    I've since switched jobs to private industry and it's much more lax here but still no shorts or graphic tees sort.

  • I got a field promotion to project manager once and had to learn to talk like this real fast. It was so soul sucking I barely lasted a year before quitting. Juggling project goals, budgets, workers, client relations, etc left me with no time to actually do meaningful work and I just ended up hating myself because my life had become endless meetings like this one (but I wasn't paid 10x my workers salaries).

  • My uncle is early gen X I think and didn't have a laptop, smartphone, or home internet for years. He got his first smartphone in like 2019. He lives alone and I hardly see or talk to him, yet over the years since he got a phone he has always wanted to be the one to take family photos with it, show me what he's learned or the research he's done. He's planned vacations and managed his retirement all on his own through his new laptop and phone now. It's clearly not an age thing, just a willingness to learn, which he has always had an aptitude for.
