  • A "move in" fee is not a deposit. It's more like a goodwill payment, or you could call it a front pocket fee, even if there's nobody else in queue. Obviously whoever is willing to pay the most gets the first choice.

    It's shady as fuck and also illegal where I live, but people still pay it instead of risking not getting the apartment. Sadly, nobody cares enough to take these scumbags to court over it. You can choose not to pay it but then you just don't get the apartment, and if so, why'd you want to waste your time and money on a lawyer, when there's nothing to win from doing so.

  • I have a small dog. It's very clever and well trained, but it's still an aggresive asshole.

    The issue is that it's difficult to socialize small dogs to begin with, when all the other puppies are quadruple the size.

    We try it sometimes, when she seems interested in other dogs, but it always ends up the same with her getting scared and aggressive for no particular reason.

    It might be easier if I had had an older dog to begin with or something.

    She's not aggressive against humans at all though.

  • Autopilot is not AI. It's basically a system that makes sure that some gyroscopes are aligned with whatever destination is typed in. It makes no artificial intelligent choices of any kind.

    Air traffic controlling requires a lot more data processing. A lot of it could potentially be made or is already made with algorithms, provided that the data is based on trustworthy sensors and radars that are always up to date. They're probably not, so humans need to sort out which data to trust and make decisions that sometimes conflict with the erroneous data.

    It makes no sense to throw a language model at the task.
