  • How, is united healtcare bankrupt? Did they change and approve everyone? AFAIK they are just as scummy with a different CEO.

  • Just like the weed we found sir, it was also burned, in very small portions.

  • I have a 5 year old kid that only wants to pee standing but (despite me telling him not to) he never lifts the seat. Unfortunately some guys never seem to grow beyond 5 years old...

  • Well yeah, but way too many lazy guys just pee.

  • As a guy please leave it up, when I need to poop I really don't want to sit on a seat with pee splatter all over. If it's really unisex I think most women rather put it down than sit on a wet toiletseat.

  • Although I get your point, the other side of the coin is that plenty of guys are really bad at picking up on emotional cues. So unless you actually say no, not all guys will understand yes is actually no.

  • And as a second point, we all know that when companies or people depend on AI the price to use that AI will go up to the point where it is almost as expensive as having actual people doing the job. All these billions poured in AI need to be earned back, so now your business will fail unless you basically pay them whatever they ask.

  • The mah-freedom-folks forcing people to do something (and making everyone less free) again.

  • I started using them back in the day, when most phones had a very limited launcher. I have used nova for many years, it has a ton of customization options. I'm not sure how it is these days, but previous phones also came with thing that I did not like and could not disable or remove. Like a permanent Google search bar, or the Google assistant being a dedicated page on your home screen.

  • I can totally understand, the American example would be.

As a kid you are told about Santa Clause and his little helper elfs.

Now that you are an adult you have learned that the elves are actually based on slaves and the color of their skin is als based on that (let's just imagine elves and slaves have the same skin color)

To you it's just an elf and you never associated them with history or slavery. If fact as a kid you are told they have this color from the chimney.

So in reality both are true, people that grew up with zwarte Piet are not necessarily racist, but the entire tradition is based on historical context and therefore racist.

  • I'm not from Japan, I'm from Europe. I understand how fucked up the US is for regular hard working people. That is why those people should be paid a living wage, not depend on the kindness of people tipping. This entire system needs to be replaced, and it can start from either the government or people refusing to tip. If people stop tipping wages are going up, or restaurants basically can't find people willing to do it anymore.

  • Thank god in the Netherlands we first have to have the zwartepieten discussie.

For anyone out of the loop this is a tradition that is changing but some boomers get really mad about changing it.

  • I'm just going to say it, I kind of like her Christmas song, just hearing it once or twice around Christmas is fine (for me).

I don't listen to radio or watch (cable) TV, so I don't get bombarded with Christmas songs. It's like one of those hipster beers with ingredients like strawberry short cake, in small doses it's fine.

  • Back in the day I used direct connect, we had 100mbit internet (at my university), that was extremely fast back in the day.

  • I was pretty close to this option, but in the end we moved to a much nicer house. So now our expenses are a lot more. I don't regret it, it's a much better place to raise kids.

I did took a sabbatical for about a year, and will probably do that again in 5 years or so. It doesn't have to be a binary option, you can do sabbaticals (mini retirements) and still work.

  • In the Netherlands basically all fatbikes are electric ones. Young adults/teens ride them and also hack the software so they go much faster.

In the Netherlands an ebike should only work when you actively use the pedals and should go 25 km/h or slower.

Otherwise it's a scooter with different rules (license plate, scooter driver license, insurance, etc).

Many kids (and even some adults) turn them into a scooter, ride the bicycle roads and cause accidents.

  • Let's make it "if someone is excited about something that doesn't hurt other people...."

  • I have been using (re)vanced for many years, it's free and takes a lot less effort.
