My 22-year-old son wants to change his last name to “Carrington,” and it’s driving me absolutely crazy.

Why?Well, for one, he’s never liked me or my last name,

But still, that doesn’t give him the right to change his last name

Being a grown-ass adult does though…

I’m his father, and I can’t help but feel like it’s my business too.

It’s not.

My son also has no respect for me whatsoever. He doesn’t like me, care about me, and finds me annoying. He straight up said, ‘I couldn’t give a fuck less about you or your opinion. The fact that you think I should care proves how utterly stupid you are.’

I believe it. I always splurge on paint because even the expensive stuff is relatively cheap when it comes to home projects, and painting is a pain in the ass and I don’t want to work any harder than I have to.

If someone changed their last name to “Newman,” “Forrester,” or “Carrington” because they hate their father and his last name and just liked those instead, and legally changed it, how would you feel?

I’d feel like, “Man, what did their father do? It must have been something really awful. I hope they feel better now”. But I’d also feel a bit sorry for them because I’m doubtful simply changing their name would fix whatever damage was done.
