  • That's a very cool-looking record.

  • HELLO DAVE?!

  • I wasn't sure about it after the first couple of tracks — I've only really listened to Thickfreakness and Rubber Factory before, so those kind of define the band in my mind, IYSWIM.

It definitely grew on me tho.

  • I think the turntable belonged to my wife's ex-husband's parents originally. Not sure how she ended up with it, but I suspect my stepdaughter may claim it one day. Considering how it had been kept, it's in remarkably good shape. The belt was shot, and I put a new cartridge in it, but otherwise it's been great.

I got the amp and speakers new in 2004, I believe. Never given me any trouble either, I'm happy to say.

  • Vinyl and LPs - Analogue Music Goodness @lemmy.world

The Black Keys — Ohio Players

  • Yeah, at the time CDs were the thing and I didn't expect to be able to get a new turntable easily, so I figured it was fine to give them up. Only 20 years later that the regret set in.

I got a decent haul on Saturday for record store day, but it's definitely going to take some time (and money holy crap) to build a collection again!

  • I was looking for that album in the record store yesterday, to no avail. Used to have it back in the 90s but foolishly gave it away with the rest of my collection when I moved continents.

    Such a good album!

  • Kind of a high bar.

  • A job

  • That sucks, friend. Hopefully things improve for you soon.

  • A job

  • I was looking for a job and then I found a job

And heaven knows I'm miserable now

  • The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!" and I'll look down, and whisper "No".

  • Not this Canadian.

  • The Apple translate thingie says:

I've already said to the daimyo, "I'm really sorry"! And you said you wouldn't reveal my affair to the public!!

  • Yes.

  • The little town in Oö where I recently lived for a year had one of each, and when I eventually realised that Sparkasse had no fees I never went in a Raiffeisen again.

  • who*

  • My biggest complaint is that the ending of season 1 really just came across as disrespectful to viewers, particularly in light of how long it was between seasons.

Maybe this coloured my opinion of it, but I watched them back-to-back. I didn't experience that feeling of being disrespected by the wait. I just heard it was good, and watched what was available.

For the first season I felt like it was a really interesting concept, and I was excited to see how it developed. The second season just seemed like it'd lost its way to me, and they were drawing it out.

  • Meh. The first season was good, but I feel like it pretty much could've ended there. The second one felt kind of drawn out and dull to me.

  • I don't really care about the rewards, but I did roll my eyes at the email.

I just got back from a year in Austria, where I was paying €9,90 a month (with the first 3 months free!) for unlimited calling and 60GB of data with Europe-wide roaming, and Public seemed like the best deal at ~3x the cost for less.

Canadian phone plans really do suck.

  • Hopefully the speech recognition is better than whatever the fuck most online video platforms use for automatic subtitles at the moment.
