  • Thanks, but they're not mine, I crossposted these (among other content) as part of boycott/protesting efforts of the Lemmy․ml instance (see below)

All OC does get tagged with the user however, this post in particular is by photographer @Fotos.photos@pixelfed.social and I believe they have more on their pixel fed page

I cross-post from .ml to the nearest relevant non-.ml comm to reduce the influence of .ml comms and indirectly, the instance as a whole, to help vitilize non-.ml comms and make it an easier decision for other instance admins to defederate because one key reason I identified that admins don't want to defederate is because .ml still has some very large comms and some active niche comms.

    Megathread on the issue

    Some highlights from the link:

.ml admin, Nutomics continued transphobia https://lemmy.world/post/29222558 The original transphobic Comment from Nutomic: https://lemmy.world/post/18236068

"If you don't support Russia then you just don't understand geopolitics" ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/27352415

"Don't worry guys, the Uyghur Genocide was REALLY just birth control! ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/30580167

"See! nobody died IN Tiananmen Square, just AROUND it, so it doesn't count!!" ~ Davel, .ml admin https://lemmy.world/post/30673342

"NK is actually good and anything counter to that is Western propaganda!" ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/31595035

General negative sentiment to other instances who haven't "seen the way" yet ~davel, .ml admin https://lemmy.world/post/27426510

And so so much documentation on clear heavy handed censorship and bias also on the link. So much I can't even put them all here because this comment would be really long.

I believe the behavior of its admins (the main admins are Lemmy devs) does harm to the overall growth of the Lemmy-verse and maybe even the Thrediverse (since Lemmy kinda kicked off the Thrediverse) because of its association with the devs of Lemmy and their insistence to use .ml as their personal political platform to spread harmful propaganda

On the outside, bringing up Lemmy frequently leads to comments like "Lemmy? Isn't that the place with a bunch of tankies?" Or "Tried Lemmy, but found it full of pro Russia crap so I left". The best way forward from that I see is to either widely defederate from .ml like the rest of the Triad, or pressure them to put a fair and unbiased as possible admin team.

  • Lol they are all too happy to use the evil bad western news and even Wikipedia when it supports their positions

  • I think it's not needed to consolidate world news comms, there's a lot of that content to go around IMO

And it's also the kind of comm that its better to keep multiple active ones going

  • Just ignore them on anything AI related, they are the polar opposite of the AI Tech Bros. Shitting on anything and everyone using AI in any form for anything

  • Yea I get that, we share the timeline problem, I'm always too optimistic on them shits at work lol

  • I understand time is needed for a proper review as well as needing additional time to accommodate for the fact that it's all run by volunteers.

However, most of us simply want transparency. There has been no formal announcement thread on this to my knowledge, just replies to the threads that get started about it.

If you're investigating, announce what, why, and how far along. Give us details as to what's going on and the options that are on the table. It doesn't have to be a meticulous blow-by-blow, but the transparency so far is on the other end of the extreme. Maybe if y'all were trying to move against him before he knew what was happening I could see it, but there's no way he doesn't know what's going down at this point.

  • Lol don't feel bad, I can do advanced crazy shit with Linux like pivoting the running OS into RAM so I can unmount the boot drive to do whatever without ever rebooting

But I still [Web Search] commands a shit ton of the time LMAO

  • They are a HilariousChaos user, long since tagged as a right-wing nut, that instance is the new right-wing "Lighter Friendlier" ExplodingHeads

  • Why? Your screenshot explains nothing lmao

  • It does show he is not going to learn from or sincerely apologize for his transphobic statement

Furthermore, I think it's perfectly fine to bring up such a problematic statement from a person, no matter how old it is, for as long as it's still relevant. Just because he isn't making statements publicly doesn't mean he doesn't still believe these things, or takes actions (e.g. voting) that supports these statements.

If he had retracted his statements, gave a sincere apology and made some effort to educate himself then it would be different. Then I'd be right along with you in stating that it should just be allowed to rest.

But given that Nutomic has clearly demonstrated that he hasn't done any of that in the time since his original statement, then it's fair game to keep such things about his character in the public mind

  • Can confirm, I was able to save a post edit, TYSM!
