  • OMG this walkthrough answers so many of my questions. No wonder I get destroyed by this game I've been making practially all the decisions wrongs hahaha.

  • I love this game, only discovered it in the early 2000's and played it on emulator. The genesis version is my favourite and its very deep and complex. I don't think I've ever gotten very far with it, but I love the concept.

  • Except I'm pretty sure tulaberry and the gamma quadrant is from DS9 not Voyager? Whatever.

  • I love my time 2 but it has a pretty serious design flaw; the glass screen has an exposed edge. A minor scrape on anything of sufficient hardness will chip the edge and in my case it has.

I can deal with scratches but these chips are so distracting. I'm very sad this flaw was not fixed before production as it's a simple fix. I wasn't convinced it would be a problem but I was wrong it chips very easily and now I have to live with it

I hope the next run of watches raises the bezel so it can protect the glass edge.

  • The Wii.

It is such an underpowered console, with only a handful of must have titles if that.

But man those titles hold up. Even my little gen alphers love it and get into it. Its mostly just a wii sports machine but its still going strong even in this era of mobile and AAA gaming.

I have a bunch of old consoles but the Wii is the only one that gets regular play without needing convincing.

  • Right there with you bud but I dunno, its not looking good!

  • Its hard not to be smug as a lowly ender 3 peasant to have everything I was worried about Bambu doing slowly coming true.

I mean... I wish my printer worked as well as all my Bambu friends, but this helps a little... this helps...

  • Action Star Trek games are fun, let's be honest. Most of us enjoyed Elite Force and that certainly had some scifi horror elements, maybe without going too hard. I hope this game is good and wish them well.

But personally I keep telling myself the perfect Star Trek game is an away mission based walking/tricorder simulator with LA Noire style interactions with characters and Myst-ish styled puzzles. Maybe something closer to the new Indiana Jones game but in spaaaace.

I keep waiting to see that game. I have no idea if it would work though. I thought Resurgence came close, but it definitely wasn't perfect.

  • Isnt the warp speed limit part of the in universe reason that Voyager has new variable nacelle geometry?

  • Good question I can't really speak to that I don't typically respond from my wrist so I'm not even sure what it offers in way of features there. Sorry.

  • Looks good!

  • I feel you on the smart gadgets thing. After the fall of pebble I swore off smart stuff and was into Casio and simpler amazefit neo type stuff for a while. Then I fell into casio PCB conversions and before I knew it I was back at basically smart watches again like the pinetime.

When I saw pebble was back I had to get it. I pulled my old pebble time out and started daily driving it.

The time 2 builds on the existing pebble vibe but just sort of smoothes a lot of edges, improves quality of life and feels like a solid upgrade. It's early days but I kind of love it.

    Pros

    • The screen is great. Maaaaybe a tiny bit less legible than the time screen, but easy to read in most light and in sunlight it's stunningly crisp. Not amazing color reproduction but eh, it's epaper.
    • the buttons are this nice knurled metal and they click satisfyingly. An improvement over my old time's mushy buttons.
    • It looks pretty slick imo I love how it looks on the wrist.
    • should you want them there is a decent hobbyist level of apps and watchfaces available for all sorts of things. You could also easily make your own if so I inclined.
    • there's lots of simple customizations that feel very neighborly for example letting you flip the screen if you like the buttons on the other side for wearing on your right wrist.
    • it just has that fun lo-fi feel that is kind of missing these days.

    Cons

    • I haven't completely discharged the battery yet, but at current rate I don't see the endurance target being realistic. I think theres optimizations like turning off heartrate monitor etc. Maybe we'll get there with updates.
    • while cool the backlight is not exceptionally bright. It's not dim, but I could have used a bit more juice personally.
    • there are some minor bugs. Backlight will stop sometimes while navigating the menu. Not ideal in the dark. Again maybe this will be fixed.

    Tl;Dr

Yeah I recommend it if you're like me and like the pebble philosophy and are willing to accept some deficiencies. If you want a polished finished product I'm not sure it's there yet. It's a nice watch in general though. Even without notifications it offers a lot of unique timekeeping functions.

  • It only seems to be configurable through the app. It's under Settings>Watch Tab>Display.

At the bottom of the page.

  • It's the Pebble Time 2! Just got it last week!

Ok, so the RGB backlight is awesome 😎

  • See ya starside!

  • They really need to fix the bug that won't let you change from the default profile on steamdeck.

  • Man you know when people say they have an unpopular opinion usually it's some lukewarm take, but this is pure unique stance and while I absolutely do not share it I salute you for it.

  • Super cool! I love my Pager, using MeshOS right now, but will give this a try.

Hate to say it, but that AI-Gen "photo" of the T-pager is so distracting. My eyes knew right away it was wrong.

  • Brought my time out of mothballs when repebble came on the scene and I can't remember why I ever laid it to rest. Every other smart-ish watch I've adopted to fill the role it left has been a PITA or just no reliable. Really looking forward to my PT2!

  • 100% dude. I was right there with you back in the day. My first "online" experience was a net game of M1 over MacTCP to my buddy down the street. After it came out all my Macs had a copy of Infinity and I wasted countless hours in Forge making wild maps. It was a great time in my life. I still play Aleph One now and then to kill time because its like a warm blanket to me now.

I will definitely give this new Marathon a shot at some point, but this gameplay is just not where I am at. I don't really fit into this new world of online experiences, maybe I'm just getting old and Marathon is moving past me for a new age. I guess that's fair. Its just hard to see as a die hard fan. Oh well.

    See ya starside.
