  • Thanks so much for your post. I am also on the fence with Heat. Its kinda cool with the deckbuilding, heat, gears and so forth but I did not enjoy playing it.

  • You should talk to the holy roman empire of german nations then

  • We love Clank! After dominion, our first modern euro (not counting settlers of catan) we got Clank and loved it. The majority of games we play are only my gf and I and while clank does work as a 2-player, its much better with 3 or more. Thus, it does not see the table often as other games.

However, we got Clank Catacombs soon as it came out and loved it. Works better as a two player too, because the routes are not so predictable. We had some games with super easy dungeon escape routes and others where almost everyone died trying to escape. I love that aspect of the game.

There are also a lot of cards that make +clank and this makes playing much more dangerous. I like that since dying in original clank was rather rare. Dying below the green line happened maybe once or twice in al the games we played of the original in 5 years.

Catacombs is borrowing some aspects of legacy and I think it really works well.

  • Like so many video-game adaptations, there are few good exceptions

  • Thanks for the explanation. So these Kensington locks are super expensive? How does your desgin improve upon it?

  • I dont get for what this is? To put a padlock on it? For what device?

  • Nice one! How do you handle infestations?

  • Very intersting, I am sure to continue watching (started episode 1). Even though, I gotta say, not the biggest fan of CGE games :D

  • Oh wow that sux! I really love the alien theme, always a bit weary about coop games to be honest but it sounded interesting

  • Nice idea with the music stand! How is this going for you and the rules of Ark Nova?

One mistake we made for a while is that when you release an animal, you also loose the tickets/attractive that this animal provided. But other than that its really straight forward after a few games

  • We are in the middle of moving to a new city but we managed to still squeeze in some sessions with our current group.

We played Terraforming Mars for one last time as a 4 player game. Its a bit cursed because I lost once again with a single point. We almost managed to cover the entire planet with structures. Very fun session.

We also played a 2 player session of Ark Nova - I lost that game but honestly this was good because otherwise my gf just hates the game and we would play it less.

We also played another 4 player of Burgundy which was our final game with that group.

Now looking for new players in Barcelona;)

  • Haha, I think 6 would be even cheap. It is insanely power to look through the discard, grab a gold and, oh wonder!, immediately draw it :D

  • For me this is the Harbinger card from Dominion 2nd Edition. We played it not strictly following the from top to bottom. So you could look through your discard and then immediately draw it with the same card. It was super broken.

Or playing Milita but you always have to discard 2 cards, even if you are already at 3 or less. It was supid.

  • I agree with that, well said. I think the discussion about some complex wargames became a bit elitist to some degree. The list itself is a decent collection of complex yet fun games to play. Nobody ever is going to play some over the top complex wargame that takes 10 years to complete

  • How is it lasting so long? We used to play speed-Carcassonne were you only had seconds to place the tile. A game took 15 minutes but was a lot of fun

  • I really enjoy it. Extremely solid gameplay and I like the theme, too :)

  • I am sure Ark Nova will go more smoothly soon :) amazing game! And for me its really a fun gameplay loop, so satisfying!

  • we had a busy week and only managed to get our group together for a long session Terraforming Mars- it was a 4 player game with one new player at the table. While the newcomer did good, it came down to us other three to see who contributes the most.

I had a terrible start with almost all cards being useless early game. I had the Tardigrade card as my only card for 3 generations. I managed to claw my back back into the game by pursuing aggressive card-drawing strats. Placing oceans on the card-drawing hexes and take every opportunity to draw more until I had some decent cards on the table. Only ever build 2 cities and 2 greeneries but managed to get a head in the terraforming score by having some good science cards. In the end it was not enough still. My gf won the game scoring a whooping 23 points just from her cards and additional 10 points being first with 3 cities and 8 construction cards. She also got the Titan/Iron competition and flew ahead by 3 points. In-between me and her was our third player who is a longtime veteran of the game. While she had an amazing early game, her late-game faultered a bit.

For me, the game plays extremely well with 4 even though it can be a bit long.
