  • I was reading without specifcally catering to Bingo, and filled the squares naturally, my aim was that I'll target the missing squares when I only have a 2-3 months left and get a Bingo, but life happened and couldn't do it. Still, here's the status:

    • 1E: Now a Major Motion Picture - The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski

    • 2D: Short and Sweet - Mistborn: Secret Histories by Brandon Sanderson

    • 2E: Banned Book - Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi

    • 3A: Mythology or Legend as Important to Plot - Whispers Underground by Ben Aronavench

    • 3B: Title: [X] of [Y] - The Bands of Mourning by Brandon Sanderson

    • 3C: FREE SPACE - Off Your TBR Pile - Streams of Silver by R. A. Salvatore

    • 4C: Judge a Book by Its Cover - My Roommate is a Vampire by Jenna Levine

    • 4D: Award Winner - Redshirts by John Scalzi

    • 5C: Late to the Party - Old Man's War by John Scalzi

    • 5E: Jerk with a Heart of Gold - Sunlit Man by Brandon Sanderson

    And in visual form:

  • Yeah, I am going to see if I can cheat. I have quite a few kids' books which are very quick to read. I don't read most of them, but do check out a few now and then to discuss them and understand how their tastes are changing. 😀 Let's see if there are any that can get me Bingo!

  • I had my issues with the series, have read the first two, but haven't gotten around to the third yet. Not sure I want to continue.

  • Ooh nice. May add it to my list.

And yeah, hopefully will get back to reading soon.

  • Yeah, it's a fediverse favourite.

  • Argh! I still have covered many boxes but still no Bingo. Was hoping to go for specific boxes in last couple of months, but didn't even get time to read.

  • Thanks! Things have started to settle a bit, hopefully everything will be sorted out soon.

  • Hehe, have fun!

  • Haha, it has been quite a while since I read it, but I recall liking the original so might be worth a try with Zombies too.

  • “Why read another human’s writing if an AI’s is better?”

I think that was the whole point, this is "the hidden cost of AI Art". AI (or LLMs) might be able to compete (or supersede us) on the end-product level, but it can't create "art". If you don't care about art, then the whole discussion doesn't matter, but then it will cost us our growth as humans.

  • Thanks. That sounds fun, will pick it up.

  • Nice! this weeks thread is up btw. If you want to post there too. We usually post it on Tuesday, but can get delayed sometimes.

  • I loved the Devabad Trilogy. Though I think that was mainly because of the setting. Just found out that she wrote a short stories collection in the series during covid. In case you want to read more after finishing the series.
